  1. I have quite a few tattoos, including a large back piece with writing across my shoulder blades. I don't mind people looking, commenting or asking questions as long as they're fairly polite - but the numerous times I've been stood at a bar in town when someone starts tracing the letters with their fingers or touching my arms. Not cool. Really not cool.
  2. While there are children in the (awful) care system waiting to be adopted, IVF shouldn't be provided on the NHS at all. If you want to be a parent so badly then adopt.
  3. No it was definitely for today, I double checked on the phone when I placed my order and the confirmation of delivery specifically stated Saturday 6th April. There is a cut off point for next day deliveries and I was told there was 3 hours left until the cut off time when I placed my order.
  4. We never had a formal 'system' of chores = pocket money when I was growing up. I was expected to clean up after myself, keep my room tidy, help with things if asked and if I didn't do that then I wouldn't get any spending money when I asked my mum for some. I'd have probably benefited from a "money on Friday and make it last the week" routine though, as I could never budget well! My kids are still too young for the whole pocket money deal but the eldest knows that he will be rewarded if he works hard eg: trip to the lego shop for a very good school report.
  5. Rant Warning Ordered a new TV from ASDA Direct yesterday & paid an extra £4.50 for next day delivery and was told it would be delivered today. This morning I used the ASDA Direct website to track my order. It showed this message: "Delivery status: Whole Order Despatched - All of the items shown below have left our warehouse and are on their way to you. You can use the tracking link below to see how your delivery is progressing." I called ASDA Direct to ask about delivery times, was told that they deliver up until 2pm on Saturdays so the TV should be with me by then. Called again at 2.30 to enquire about delivery again to be told that my item would not be delivered today. I was then told this was because of "A delay" and then that the Delivery company hadn't received my item. I asked for a refund for the next day delivery payment, and was told that it should be delivered on Monday. Will do my research next time as I've found quite a few bad reviews about their service. Really annoyed as I've been a work all week and would've loved to have done something with the kids instead of wait in for a TV that never showed up! Anyone else had a bad experience with them?
  6. Acts of sexual violence are usually more to do with the perpetrator having power over the victim, rather than sexual attraction, which makes the "illness" debate more complicated. There are people who are sexually attracted to children and people who get sexual gratification from abusing children (and those who are seen as vulnerable) - which they do to feel powerful. Paedophilia is not an illness.
  7. This. I feel rubbish today and am in no way capable of putting together a coherent response to this stupid post. Thank you for doing it for me
  8. Many victims suffer in silence for years before speaking of their abuse for fears of what may happen. Many never speak of it.
  9. I remember when I was at primary school doing A LOT of things for World Book Day. So does my stepsons primary & my daughters nursery, I can't remember anything going on for it in secondary school though so it may just be a childrens thing.
  10. There is a massive difference between an internship where someone chooses to work for free in an industry of interest to them in order to gain experience for a future career, and being forced to work for a large successful business or risk having your already pitiful benefits stripped from you. If the government wanted people to work for their dole to give them experience and incentive then they would send them to small local business & charities that really need the help. Instead they are just benefiting the corporations that line their pockets by providing them with free labour.
  11. Apologies if this is a duplicate post - I'm fairly new to the forum & can't seem to find anything recent. I haven't written anything since I was in College a good 5 years ago, and its something I really want to get back into(I also want to find out if I can be any good). Could anyone point me in the direction of classes or part time courses that won't cost the earth?
  12. I've not long been a member of the forum, but the Writing group stuck out to me. Writing has been a passion of mine from a very early age, yet I haven't written since I was 17. Being 22 now & with a daughter at nursery full time & studying for a degree that I loathe more and more everyday I figured I might give it a go again.
  13. I am terrible at drawing. & I haven't wrote in years (trying to get back into it) - but I would love to get to know people who do & share the same interests.
  14. I don't agree with it, as a parent you make choices for your child until they are old enough to do so themselves. A lot of parents choose to use their children as real life dolls to dress up and parade around for their own benefit and I think the ear piercing is a part of that mentality some parents have. And don't get me started on the piercing guns that are used on most of the kids having their ears done. Wait until the child is old enough to choose for themselves, explain to them what happens and take them to a reputable piercing studio and have it done properly with a needle, not a gun. They should be made illegal.
  15. That's what I thought as well, the full information has obviously been left out to make the headline relate to the alleged rape - either way it leads me to believe that the murder wasn't a direct result of the complaint made against him. Very strange indeed.
