  1. Eric Cutler was a great pal of mine. I met him when I was about 13 yrs old at Longley open air baths. He was always there with his wife Brenda & his little babby who is now monster size. He used to wrestle with Abe Ginsberg as the Black Diamonds tag team, they were baddys with black masks on. He took a pub, the Angel Inn at Eckington for a while then went on repairing cars or anything else which was broken. He was a genius with his hands which were like 2 shovels. Sadly Brenda died quite young and it did him in for a while but he came round OK & met another lady who looked after him like a goodun. He died of a heart attack a few years back.I knew most of the wrestlers from Sheffield, Bobby Graham, Brian Glover(Leon Arras), Alan Kilby. All great guys.
  2. Tony Toms used to train Donna Hartley who went on to win Miss Gt britain bodybuilding comp in 1988.He's done allsorts since including bodyguarding Madonna, selling wine etc. He's one of life's great characters & I knew him very well at one time although we lost contact for a while. I know Donna has his phone number somewhere so if I see her I'll ask although I don't think we can put numbers on this websight. Questor.
  3. When I was a little lad around 4or5 yrs old my nan used to take me every Friday to Castle market for a plate of cockles whilst she had a plate of tripe. She used to suck it cause she had no teeth. Then she always took me to Redgates & bought me a Dinky toy. By the time I got home I'd always pulled all the tyres off it. Redgates was toy heaven to a little lad.
  4. Does any one know Willis Ward nickname Eigerman who went to Abbeydale Boys grammar 1958 to 62 .
  5. I started school in Sept 1950 at Pomona St , we had a great teacher called Miss Lofthouse who was a right little so & so but we all remember her. I passed my eleven plus & went to Nether Edge Grammar for the first year then we all upped sticks and went to Abbeydale Boys' Grammar. We had some amazing teachers who still stay fresh in my memory as though it were yesterday.Rabbi the scripture master, Charlie Simpson the french master who used to dish out the slipper a lot but we all liked him. I left in 1962. Howard Wilkinson went to our school & was a great footballer but a right miserable git, he didn't change much as a bloke.
  6. Hiya Chuffinell, my Dad worked at Neills for as long as I can remember as a surface grinder. His name was George Wass and he was good mates with Mr Ardron. I remember him talking about him having a daughter who was "reyt beautiful" and was gooin in fodem beauty contests. We lived on Summerfield St and I used to sit on the chip-shop step on the corner of Parliament St waiting for him to come home from work when I was a nipper. He retired in 1976 and died in Feb 1979, I still miss him. Questor.
