  1. What to do to a car parked in a cycle-only lane, according to the Mayor of Vilnius? See http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-14380367
  2. Only one of these numbered statements (i.e. excluding this heading) is true- but which? 1. All of the following are true. 2. None of the following is true. 3. Both of the preceding are true. 4. Only one of the preceding is true. 5. None of the preceding is true. 6. None of the preceding is true.
  3. I've noted that, too. Plus the timetable-update facility is a bit sporadic.
  4. Simply to hear others' views. Many may have contracted it; have you, for instance?
  5. Now that they'll both be in a lowly division, isn't it time to re-open the possibility of a merger? Think of the advantages: 1. Sell two grounds, hopelessly antiquated and wrongly-located. 2. Buy/build new ground, accessible by train/Supertram/bus and just off an M1 junction. 3. Reduce overheads, esp. players' wages. 4. Aim at a more or less permanent Premiership position. Putting it another way, would you prefer to support: a. a successful merged team ('Sheffield City' or 'Sheffield Amalgamated'); or b. one of the two no-hoper teams, just because you always did?
  6. What predisposes women to contract cystitis? Is it caught (infectious? contagious?), caused, or random?
  7. Estimates vary, but the most accurate ones suggest that EU membership costs at least £10 per person per day (for every adult resident of the UK). We gain no benefit at all, plus: a. we have to stump-up £££ to bail-out the more feckless of its member countries; b. we cannot control the ceaseless influx of EU immigrants; and c. many UK laws are foisted on us by the unelected and faceless EU bureaucracy. I agree that some UK citizens are in favour of continued membership. I do so hope that they too will support an early UK Referendum on whether we should stay or go.
  8. If the camera flashed, why not be a flasher and flash it back?
  9. The best view seems admirably summed-up by the couplet: "Cet animal est tres méchant; Quand on l'attaque, il se défend." [= This animal is very malicious; when attacked, it defends itself.] From the song 'La Ménagerie' via Hoyt's New Cyclopedia Of Practical Quotations (1922), p. 30. I.E. why grow so angry that Israeli Defence Forces, er, defend Israel?

  14. Let's see. 1. The Jews left Egypt 2448 years after the World was created. 2. After 40yrs. in the desert, they entered the Land of Israel in 2488. 3. After 440yrs. King Solomon built a Temple. 4. The First Temple stood from 2928 to 3338 (= 410yrs.) 5. The Second Temple stood from 3408 to 3828 [= 70 CE] (= 420 yrs.). 6. So I make that 440 + 410 + 420 = 1270 years of prior 'Israel' (although, for part, the Southern Kingdom was called 'Judah').
  15. If you've been driving up and down the M1 for years, pull in at the next services and take a break. It's dangerous to drive if over-tired.
