  1. You are talking about the steelworks site that used to be called Fox's many years ago. Now owned and run successfully by Tata. The part that the retail park is being built on was formerly ran by Outo Kumpu. That part of the steelworks closed a few years back, leaving the still sizable Tata works. Fox Wire is/was along the bypass , just beyond Stocksbridge. Bodie, I know people that worked there. They weren't lazy, just understaffed.
  2. I cancelled my Sky a couple of years back, as I was out of contract. Wasn't a problem apart from everything that i'd recorded on Sky+ was locked in the box, even though i'd already paid for it. Typical Sky tactic. You don't need Sky these days for extra channels, and they know it. You will not miss it after a few days, if anything it's a relief. As for your phone line and broadband, you should never get tied into a contract as they have you over a barrel. Read the small print and you will find they can put prices up as they please, and trying to leave them usually results in a long drawn out process with penalties. My advice to anyone is use Freeview/Freesat for your telly. Keep your phone line on BT, they don't hold you to their broadband. You pay slightly more for your line rental, but you're not tied in. Use a cheap internet provider, but buy your own modem. I use PlusNet. Going back to Sky+. If you have a Smart TV with USB ports in the back you can save money on a recorder by buying a £50 1TB External Hard Drive, like you have for your computer. Plug this into the back of the TV, the TV will ask if you want to format the EHD to your TV. Then simply record onto it. Saves spending £200 on having another big box under your telly
  3. I really don't understand why the ex partners of these men in F4J want to keep them away from their kids !?
  4. My solution to the way you feel is to get in touch with a few garden centres, and buy an Ash Tree sapling, then plant it near where the old tree was, or in the back garden.
  5. Where i work, we have a 3D printer. It is still limited, and the printing of objects takes about 8 hours at a time. The material is still very expensive, never mind the equipment and software. So mass production, where the money is, would be a bad business idea. Why would you have one in your home?, the novelty of recreating household objects would soon wear thin.
  6. You can celebrate whatever you want, just don't pretend to be something you're not. On Christmas day, i don't pretend to be 'Gods' son !!. And i don't make a deal of St.Georges either.
  7. Firstly, thankyou Discodown Secondly, i'm not being miserable, i just find it all a bit false. I will still be going out today enjoying myself,as i do most saturdays. Thirdly, you are NOT half-irish, there's no such thing. If one of your parents,grandparents,great-grandparents etc were born and raised in Ireland, then they are Irish. If you were born and raised in England, you are English. If we want to use family history we should all be out celebrating Ethiopa Day !! Anyway, suit yourselves, have a great day, ya plastic paddy
  8. Why celebrate St.Patricks Day? Do they celebrate St.Georges Day in Ireland? No Are you yourself genuinely Irish? No Are you falling for some great Guinness promotion, yet still paying full price, thereby boosting profits for their shareholders? Yes Are you patronisingly going to wander about town wearing a big green sponge hat, saying 'irish' words, and generally being annoying? Yes
  9. Haha, no not at all. I was born and brought up in Sheffield, now aged 40, moved up here 8 years ago. I just find it a bit irritating when people knock this area. It's a good area, a lot better than quite a lot of areas in Sheffield. I would not move back into Sheffield now.
  10. At least we can spell properly up here. It's INDIGENOUS, not indigINIous !! Cretin
  11. Firstly <removed>, the Miller is undergoing renovation at the moment, so is not open. I saw the smoke when i arrived home, it was garden waste that was being burned, so probably set alight by the landscapers/gardeners. Secondly, leaving your windows open in Deepcar is certainly no more risky than leaving them open in Oughtibridge.
  12. If comparison sites are no longer the best, would you mind telling us where is the best places to get quotes? It would be much appreciated, ta
  13. Alright, alright, can depend on the driver as well My god, i never realised quite how insecure Scooby drivers were!
  14. Estate cars with 4x4 are all very well, but not much more use in snow and ice than 2 wheel drive cars unless you swap the standard road tyres for off-road tyres. Swapping the tyres/wheels will invalidate your insurance unless you pay more on your premium.
