Why? My Dad brought me a kitten home, when I was 9 years old, from a litter that had been born at the steel works. The Mum cat was ferral, and Dad warned me that he may only live to be about 6 or so. I called him Tige , He prefered to live outside, and I loved him and he loved me ... for 11 years.

I saw this on facebook yesterday afternoon and was able to get back to the Lady's page that posted the 4 photographs, ( not film, but photographs ). The 2 blokes in the hats were trying to help the poor dog, the Lady had already been bitten trying to get the dogs appart. She thought her dog was going to die,.... the attack took 25 minutes, so she took 3 pictures to identify the bloke and his dog. As soon as they got the aggresive dog off her spaniel, the bloke tried to run off with his dog, the 2 blokes in the hats caught him and made him stand there while she took another of his face. ---------- Post added 17-03-2013 at 19:32 ---------- This is a statement she has had to put on her face book page.. The 2 men in wholly hats were there to help me and they were essential to save spots life. It took me less then 1 minute for the photos to be taken. I suffered just as much emotionally as my dog did. The police have made this announcement on the Cavalier dog bite incident and the subsequent Facebook search: "Bedfordshire Police have today seized the dog that was responsible for an attack on Spot the spaniel which occurred on the footpath around Ouse Valley Gold Club, Biddenham on Friday March 15. "Enquiries to identify the owner of the animal were made via Bedfordshire Police Facebook page and the local media which resulted in the dog being brought into Greyfriars police station voluntarily by the owner this morning (Wed March 20). "The dog is now the property of the RSPCA and an application for a destruction order will be made. The owner is not under arrest but further enquiries by Bedfordshire Police are now underway to establish the exact breed of the dog so that appropriate action against the owner can be taken.” So it looks like the dog is found guilty and is responsible for the attack not the man who owned the dog. Without a trial - just the death sentence being called for. The dog appears to be most guilty of having an irresponsible owner and I'm guessing probably inadequate training and socialisation but his human is not under arrest so far. The police called the dog a Staffie earlier when they were looking for the dogs owner... but few people can afford to defend a case where a dog is accused of being 'type' - if that is what this is turning into. It looks likely though a dog will die as a result of this incident, just can't help thinking that the focus should be on the lack of responsible supervision and on humans being punished, not the dogs.

Sorry to drag an old thread up, but it was the only one relevant to my queery. My daughters ex partner changed his name unoffically many years ago, to fit in with his new stepfather and subsequent siblings. It wasn't through deed poll or anything... just changed. My daughter and her partner had a son, born 2004 and he registered him in his assumed name. Is this legally acceptable? The reason i ask is that I was updating the family tree, and my Grandsons surname is different to that of his own father, Grandfather , Gt Grandfather etc.
