  1. as @Jerky mentioned, you pay before you are allowed to download and it shows immediately - if the friend is allowing others to purchase games on their xbox then they only have themselves to blame - @bex1 if your son had the game already on his account, he could have logged in under his on the friends xbox and downloaded, but would not have been charged for it
  2. I have some stairs going down to cellar (via trap door) - some of the treads/risers are broken and need replacing, but as this is to the cellar only and only used on odd occasions I'm not too sure whether it's worth spending a couple of hundred quid on new stairs and then get someone in to do them. I can probably get some treads from online or even cheaper is to get some board they use for flooring and cut this to size. Another option would be just to use ladders, but what implications would it be for gas/electric board when they wish to do a meter reading. Anyone other any advice or know a good reliable company that can do the work
  3. Condolenses for his family, never really knew him but only had conversations on here with him. very sad news - rip
  4. Parents have to work to provide a home for their children. Children should be at school during the day, being trained by the teachers who in turn are being paid to provide a service. Why should parents and children be penalised for teachers striking. Why should parents have to pay extra for childcare or lose earnings because teachers won't work. If teachers aren't happy with the conditions, pensions, etc then go work for someone else and i'm sure there are many up and coming teachers willing to step into the shoes of teachers who are unwilling to work. Pensions as with most other workers, get a private pensions Hours - again most workers are being pushed to do more hours with no extra pay Holidays - most workers only get 4 weeks, some only 3 and agency staff even worse.
  5. Sorry have said the kids and parents. Parents lose money as most companies won't pay staff to take time off work. This means they get less in wage packet which in turn affects both. Children affected by not being at school, but can still learn even if not there. I still say teachers should be fined as they are preventing kids going to school.
  6. Never said it was. Expendable means they can be replaced, so they should be lucky theyhave a job, but why should parents lose out.
  7. The teachers are employed to do their, just the same every other person out there who works. Why should working parents have to be penalised and possibly lose their pay because of teachers striking. In my view the teachers should be fined and also forced to pay for parents that lose their income because of them striking. If they don't like the wage or the conditions then the simple thing to do is quit and find another job. Nobody is expendable and that includes teachers. The should be lucky they have a job and up to 13 weeks leave a year. Most working parents are lucky to get 4 weeks.
  8. Not sure if anyone else is, but I'm totally against the teacher's strike that is planned for the 1 October. I think something should be put in place to A) Fine the teachers for kids being out of school during term time B) Fine the teachers for loss of earnings to parents because of the strike If they wanted to strike they could have done this at any time during the 13 weeks they are not at school for, but still get paid.....
  9. Check your insurance policy - mine protects me against vermin infestation which wasps come under - also wasps may still survive if you have heating on - we found this out and had to get exterminators in. we first found 2 nests the next in the back garden, one under a shed we got rid off and another in a bucket. it was the following year we found them in the house in eaves as loft converted luckily not seen the wasps this year but at least know if come back I'm covered for them
  10. Kids are off school for long enough and can't see why they have to be taken out of school during term time. Being taken out during term time should only be for an emergency or sickness and not for a holiday just because the prices have gone up to go abroad. There are plenty of things to do in this country and for kids to learn, we never go abroad and instead take ours to places in the UK where they will learn about stuff (ie wildlife, history, culture, etc, etc) and not go and waste money on amusements and theme parks. If you're bothered about pricing then start saving earlier and look around as there are plenty of good deals and the best imo is somewhere away from the hustle and bustle of a busy day in a city
  11. Hi, This is one of the answers I'm trying to get out of ASUS regards ---------- Post added 22-08-2013 at 12:21 ---------- An update for you all - factory reset router then performed firmware update from first update to last. Still no luck so factory reset again, took to meadowhall and explained situation and they refunded on the spot.
  12. Even though they say windscreen won't affect your no claims, it actually does. How many years no claims were you up to? And why didn't you protect them if over a few years? here's a nice link for you to read I have over 9 years no claims, even though had accident in 2011 all because I protected it. It don't really benefit me much as if move insurer it may reduce to 5 years as that is usually the maximum for no claims
  13. For IPTV channels which use multicast/igmp do require multicast to watch, if it didn't do you think BT would have wasted so much money in upgrading exchanges up/down the country for multicast to be ready for BT Sports and other IP channels. Unicast - Used mainly for on-demand using a one-to-one connection and requires more overheads Multicast - Used to stream the same single stream to multiple receivers so the content is the same on all devices Unicast = NetFlix, Love Film, BT Vision - an individual stream to each end user Multicast = IPTV, BT Sports, Freeview, Sky, Cable - an individual stream to multiple uses so everyone sees the same content Yes, I'm on the latest firmware and as said there are others in exactly the same boat. So far only 1 person reckons they have it working (a first poster on the bt forums, while everyone else as not got it working with ASUS, even my D-Link doesn't work but I purchased that years ago because of the issues I had with Ripwire and never thought about using it for multicast at the time) Nothing to do with apple products as when testing wife has been out with her iphone I'm going to try tweeting asus again to see if can get some response from them - may also try to ring their uk number on thursday if get a chance
  14. i had issues with orange when I left them over 5 years ago and will not go back with them no matter how cheaper a package they maybe able to provide me. Go to bank and advise that they have taken further payments without your consent and your bank should reclaim the money back. If you have a bank card then ask your bank to replace it - if anybody tries to take money out of your account using your old card then it will refused. You could contact Orange and advise you will report them to the governing bodies. I done this at the time I had issues and if remember correctly, the governing body will charge Orange immediately for having to look into the issues. 5 years ago it used to be around £400 and if found to be in your favour Orange will then need to also reimburse you and I'm sure they will also get a fine (but don't quote me on that). Once I mentioned to Orange I was reporting them, they soon sorted out my account..
  15. The Billion 7800DXN works, The TP-Link Archer C7 Router also works. If you set IPTV manually to a particular port it will push some traffic through (ie the test channel on epg 900, but the BT Sports won't work and then neither will on-demand) For multicast and IGMP it should allow traffic through when an IPTV channel is requested and when not in use should allow standard Internet through so on-demand, etc will work. this is bt info i acquired from a link I got supplied from the Youview community forum - the link is no longer valid (pdf document (i do have a copy of it)) Another document is located here BT look to be using standard protocols, so I see no reason why it shouldn't work via the ASUS
