Well the smoking in public places bill didn’t include the house of commons bar so I suppose that neither would an alcohol ban.

Your political hatred should be settled at the ballot box, not made a hobby of. Back on topic I drifted into smoking as a kid, I realised late in life that I didn’t need it and just stopped with very little trouble. As for drinking it was something that accompanied me during all waking hours. Looking forward to a lunch time pint before a pub sandwich and then early bar, not content with that I then hit the red wine back at home prior to eating, yes I was on the border of some sort of alcoholism. I’d retired from work so the lunch time pint was the easiest to quit, early bar was helped by my local turning into a venue for low life’s, so that ceased.. I ended up by quitting the red wine, which I really enjoyed, and settling for two or three cans of beer in the late afternoon prior to the evening meal. I hope that this helps, you are far bigger than the fags and the booze. 🤙

And talks about God a lot !

Smoking is so expensive that I’m not surprised that it is in decline with young people.

Post one this thread, haven’t seen it elsewhere, to be fair to the poster, it’s more of a ‘what if’ ?

We’re not here to enjoy ourselves, that’s for others. 🤨

Well pubs would suffer, as would brewers, distillery’s, vintners, off licences, supermarkets, restaurants and bars, not to mention the tax-man, IMHO it would be political suicide for any party stupid enough to endorse such a move.

Probably caused by him attempting to hold his head in his hands and dropping it. 😉

I was talking of my experiences 14 years ago, looking at the City Centre from my office window in the Yorkshire Bank Building at the corner of Surrey St & Fargate. If this offends you the REPORT button is easily located.

Must take more care with my Cities and Councils, 😉

I mean that folk similar to me, who haven’t set foot in SCC for 14 years, will put the final nail in it’s coffin. Why should folk flock into a place with bad parking, no department stores and the great unwashed polluting everywhere that used to be very classy walkways.

I’m not in the habit of making excuses for SCC however, the decline in both Town and City centre shopping has hit Sheffield and Rotherham badly due to Meadowhall which is similar to having a giant store with multi concessions under cover with great parking and transport links. As and when the council decide to throw the towel in I believe that SCC will recreate itself as a giant student village, thus freeing up a multitude of properties currently used a student accommodation.
