  1. Worksop is my favourite half marathon. I did yesterdays on the back of doing the Yorkshire marathon last week and quickly realised that my legs still had very little to give so I didn't quite enjoy it as much as I usually do. That puddle early on was bloody unpleasant but luckily the rest of the course was nice and dry. I love the run through Worksop College at the end and the race T shirts are always good.
  2. A rather strange and rambling post there chap. I don't quite understand why you have decided to have a go at me personally when I was just asking you a simple question. I'm not sure how much help clubs can offer other clubs before they fall foul of the regulations set in place by the footballing governing bodies and maybe more could have been done to help. A big problem with helping out though is the message it sends to owners of clubs who may feel that they can mismanage their clubs and be bailed out by others. The situation is very emotive as football fans invest a great deal of their lives into supporting their club but ultimately a club is a business and if a business is not run properly then it will fail. It is not really the responsibility of other businesses to bail another business out when it is in difficulty.
  3. I didn't say they couldn't have done more. Did you read my post properly? I did include detail about how City did help Bury but were treated badly. My questions still stand: What do you expect City and United to have done to help Bury and why just those two clubs?
  4. How could United and City have prevented this? Also, why should it be down to these two clubs in particular to sort out the mess caused by years of mismanagement at another club? What has not been widely reported is that last year City allowed Bury to use their training facilities at Carrington free of charge provided that Bury made sure they were kept in good condition. Unfortunately Bury did not keep to their side of the agreement and the facilities are in a state of disrepair. This may be an indication of the attitude at Bury Football Club.
  5. We're all also assuming that the opening poster is telling the truth...
  6. It's not the first time it has been rebranded. Key 103 began as Piccadilly Radio in the early 1970's. It used to be a very good local radio station.
  7. Throughout the late eighties and nineties I could barley stand to watch City sober. Apart from some occasional moment there was very little to get excited about and this was not helped by the strutting peacocks from Trafford and their excruciating gloating. (They did play some decent football though). It's marvellous now how the tables have turned; my moment of realisation came last year when I attended the derby at the Etihad, The United fans celebrated a 0-0 draw against City as though they had won the league. I know many of their supporters are deeply embarrassed about what they have now become. At least they won this seasons 'We beat City cup'. Just a shame that they have to share it with Liverpool, Wigan and Shakhtar Donetsk...
  8. Not very easily. More like mincing... ---------- Post added 29-12-2016 at 19:32 ---------- Yes I did. I was just saying that there appears to be a problem with drainage on the asphalt which is not an issue with the paved surfaces.
  9. Whilst out running I have noticed that the new asphalt pavements do not drain very well. Where there is a camber the water runs off but on a flat pavement there are accumulations of water which freeze over in the cold weather. They are quite dangerous to run on but I find myself slipping on paved surfaces too.
  10. It's not a matter of my being happy at this point. The new manager has had great success and knows more about the game and his players than either of us so I am happy to place my faith in his decisions. Yes I am aware of this. He has not adapted to the system that Guardiola wants to use so he needs to draft in a goalkeeper who can play that system. In the meantime Joe Hart is on a season long loan at another club. He has not been ditched.
  11. Joe has not adapted to the system that the new manager wants to play. He was made captain for the home leg of the Champions League qualifying match last week so he could salute the fans of the club. He is now on a season long loan at Torino. A strange way for a club to 'unceremoniously dump' a player isn't it?
  12. I called into the Nottingham a few weeks ago with a couple of mates on our way into town after work. We just intended to have a quick pint as it was on our route into town but we decided to line our stomachs with some food. It turned out to be an excellent idea as the pies are delicious and the pub itself has a great atmosphere. Yes, the pies at the Broadfield and the York are wonderful but I'd encourage anyone to check out the Nottingham.
  13. And when Cantona threw a strop he chased him to Paris to beg him to come back. I'm not saying Fergusson wasn't a fine manager; quite the opposite in fact, but he was prepared to let certain players away with crossing him.
  14. Thank you very much everybody. I just hope the weather is bicycle friendly on that day.
  15. I have an appointment at the Hallamshire on Tuesday morning and I would like to go on my bicycle. Can anybody tell me if there are any bicycle parking facilities (just somewhere I can chain my bike to without it inconveniencing anybody) at the hospital? I have tried looking online but I can't find any information. Can any of you nice people on here help out?
