  1. Spoke to the ombudsman who are sending me a form out. Spoke to L&G again, but their staff appear to be reading from a script and dictate their policy without waivering. Totally refuse to discuss or send out an inspector (although that might not be so bad with your experience bloomdido.) They refer me to the policy to confirm their side, but when I point out that there is nothing advising of their storm criteria in the policy I am told that that is what the claims team are there for. !!! I have asked them to provide me with the proof of the rainfall figures that they are quoting me and when & where the readings were taken. (They also told me that the wind speed had to be above 50mph to count, so I asked for proof of the readings for that as well). I'm not sure what is to be gained by this but at least I feel as though I am not letting them walk all over me. Sickener that cgksheff, I'm sure you're right.
  2. thanks danny boy, my daughters partner is a builder, i'll get him to knock something together. I have recieved the written reply today which is a standard get out letter & reference to wear & tear etc. & to contact the Ombudsman if I don't like their decision. Great customer service eh. The rain today is really helping, 3 buckets in the bedroom now.
  3. I have both buildings & contents insurance with L&G. The Policy says that buildings cover includes extended accidental damage, cant see that it states only storm damage. The lady I spoke to did mention that the wind gust was not strong enough to cause the damage, but to be honest I was not too pleased with her response in general. I have asked her to send me the reasons in writing.
  4. Hi I am new to Sheffield Forum, so not quite sure if this is the correct procedure. I had some water damage to my roof and bedroom ceiling during the heavy rain last week. Rung L & G who have told me that because there were only 23cm rain per hour registered not the required 30 cm/hr they will not allow me to claim. Just wondered if anybody else has had similar experiences and what my chances of getting something out of them are. Thanks in advance
