  1. The Millhouses now belongs to Mitchell and Butlers
  2. yes of course but if they are not even bothered how do they know, I have drove past the address and the car is outside, plus the tax disc is out of date.
  3. My wife was shunted from behind by another vehicle on her way to work so she got out to speak to the other driver and exchange details, she got quite suspicious when he said that he didnt know his own postal code and kept telling her that there was no real damage to her car so "lets just drive on". She couldn't really see any serious damage to her car just a cracked rear bumper and insisted on swapping details. The other driver did eventually give his name address and insurance company and they parted. She then called me and i checked his reg details on the Motor Insurance Database and found that he wasnt insured. We went to the police the following day only to be told that its a civil matter and nothing to do with them, i understand that they have nothing to do with getting any repairs done and paid for by the other party but i went to report him for driving without insurance and they just didn't seem to care less. When pressed they said just leave the details and i will pass them onto Traffic, i'm betting it doesn't get anywhere near them.
  4. I use the Bulls Head quite frequently and find the present manager, John, is a fantastic host. I have always found him to be a pleasent and sociable bloke and he lets me take a jug of ale round to the tandoori house when i go for a meal, can't beat that. Unfortunately lots of pubs seem to have not as much gone down hill but seem to be a lot quieter than they used to be but i think this is due to a lack of disposable income and unfair taxes on alcohol drunk in pubs. Why pay £2.80 a pint when you can get a case of 24 from the supermarket to drink at home for £15.
  5. Give jason at Dynamic Reproduction in Attercliffe a email mail@dynamicrepro.net sure he will sort you something out or phone 0114 256 1800
  6. You may find that a lot of places dont do 18th birthdays as half the guests will probably be under the age of 18 but will still try to buy alcohol. I have had quite a few pubs in my time and held one or two 18th birthday parties and they are generally more trouble than they are worth. The majority of 18 year old lads want to fight the world when they have too much to drink in my experience. Good luck
  7. It is Census day 2011 on 27th March and we will all be shortly recieving our census forms to complete or face the wrath of the UK government and fined. Do you agree or disagree with the Census and does it really help anyone and is it worth the cost of many millions of pounds?
  8. Just to clarify, you said that you exceeded the speed limit in an area covered by average speed cameras. Average speed cameras are exactly that, if you were to exceed the speed limit by say 10mph for a short period and then drive at below the speed limit for the rest or the area covered by it it will work out your average speed over the set distance. This is a far more fairer way of monitoring speed as you may have momentarily exceeded the speed limit to safely overtake someone or through a short lapse in concentration. i cannot condone anyone breaking the speed limits but i know we can all be guilty of doing it at sometime. So, just to recap, to get a ticket through an area covered by average speed cameras you must have been exceeding the limit for a fair distance and would therefore deserve the fine and the points thay accompany it. Speed awareness courses are not a right but a option some forces use to educate offenders who are not serial offenders and who have not exceeded the limit excessively
  9. Did any forumers attend the family new years event held at The Platinum Suite at Bramall Lane on Saturday. I have booked a table for family and friends at £25 per person there for the last 5 years but this year was exceptionally poor. The Buffet consisted of a few deep fried items like chicken goujons and scampi, a few sandwiches and some small pork pies and a few salad leafs where in previous years the buffet had carvery meats, Salmon fillets and a wide and varied range of different dishes. The Childrens entertainers advertised were not there, No table decorations, an absolutely rubbish DJ . If you did attend i would like to know what you thought and if you would return next year?
  10. I was in SJF infants and juniors at Hackenthorpe from aprox 1964 to 1970 then in secondary from 1970 to 1976. Head teacher at juniors was Mr Melia and it was Mrs Finney and not Mrs Curly who owned John Thomas and used to dish out the pain. My 1st Year teacher at SJF secondary was Dave Mcklusky, a londoner and a fantastic teacher, 3rd year was Miss Clark who was a bit of a sadist and i couldn't get along with her at all. I remember Joe Lyons who was my 4th form teacher and he was quite a strict but respected teacher who i met through my future wifes family in later years and he was a great bloke out of school. You may also remember Mr Adams, the black PE teacher who was OK as long as you liked PE and sister Brendan the nun who was a sadist from god. and Mr Bell who used to take careers, i think he had a nervous breakdown and left after attacking a pupil. If i thing back it seemed great to be a bit of a rogue but i did things then that i cringe about when i think of them now.
  11. I went to both SJF junior and secondary schools and remember Miss Curlys little friend she used to keep in her desk, she used to call it John Thomas and I remember it being a short, thick cane that used to hurt like he'll, I also remember Mr Hodges and his size 11 slipper on the back of my legs and also Mr Melia and his long thin cane that he used to keep in his cupboard in his office. I must have hade some sort of punishment from one of these guys at least once a week. Those were the days
  12. I took a direct access course with Bikesafe at Owlerton and was highly delighted with the style of tuition used by these guys. Ihad ridden a motorcycle in my youth but had not been on one for over 30 years and with help from Bikesafe I passed my mod 1 & mod2 first time. It is quite expensive to do direct access but I wanted to take a pillion and needed to get a larger bike so you makes your choice and pays your money but I would definately recommend them.
  13. Does anyone know of a good window cleaner in Sothall, S20 area? we used to have a chap called Tony for years but he seems to have disappeared from the face of the earth.
  14. Hi spiritulist, i am back from my holidays now so can you get your brother-in-law to give me a ring. Cheers
