  1. Yes home economics in primary schools is not high up on the governments list when it comes to the national curriculum. Also as a parent I can teach my children the cookery and budgeting lessons I was taught from my parents and grandparents. Which leads me on to the fact that when I take them out I want value for money not a waste of money. And as for the weather, we are in Britain... it rains and we can look back and say remember the time it threw it down at the wild life park but hey we had so much fun and spent some time learning about the wildlife. If we want to learn about pieces of wood i.e. Rolling pins we go to the woods and pick up sticks and guess what... we have fun.
  2. Come on now..."Right then kids, where would you like to go today? The Yorkshire wildlife park or rolling pin world?... erm no brainier really. Come on this I'd ridiculously silly, isn't it?
  3. You can't turn the flash head and bounce the flash with that one, you will very quickly find you want to upgrade.
  4. I bought the Nikon version of this one, very impressed so far. http://www.amazon.co.uk/Neewer®-COLOR-SCREEN-Camera-Digital-Cameras/dp/B00Q5Z9NHK/ref=sr_1_8?ie=UTF8&qid=1437491020&sr=8-8&keywords=Canon+flash Would leave you money left for flash stand etc
  5. 50mm is a good place to start, you'll not use the kit lens after you buy it
  6. You can pick one up in jessops for around £140 or sometimes harrisons cameras have second hand ones. Prime lenses can be good for learning about composition and it's useful for low light situations with it being 1.8. I use the 35mm and 50mm a fair bit.
  7. It's a very capable little camera, I would recommend buying a 35mm 1.8 for it. It's the first prime I bought for mine and use it quite a lot.
  8. A rocket blower is one of those things you need in your bag, very useful for moving dust of your lend and camera.
  9. Hi I use a Fuji xf1 when I don't want to carry my dslr. It has a 1.8 lens and is amazing in low light.
  10. Hi I use photoshop elements 13, I bought it for £40 on Amazon as a download, other people may recommend Lightroom but I have no experience with that my self. Photoshop has all the easy fixes and effects as well as more professional editing tools, so can be a good starting point. Also gimp which is a free photo editor which I believe is similar to Photoshop but free, more experienced people may be able to help more but those were the ones that sprang to mind.
  11. Hi, I used one of these 80% of the time with that camera http://www.pentaxforums.com/lensreviews/SMC-Pentax-A-50mm-F1.7-Lens.html The pentax A lenses are the the best ones to look out for as every setting works on the camera. The pentax m lenses are also very good, you just have to press the green button on top of the camera to get a correct exposure. I used a m 28mm and 135mm like that. You can build up a really good set of prime lenses for peanuts.
  12. Hi I'm having a tough time deciding on a new camera bag, please help. It needs to be a shoulder bag and carry the following, 2x camera bodies with primes attached 3x primes lenses Smallish flash Batteries Personal items like money, tablet keys etc I've been looking at crumpler and lowepro due to waterproofing, can anyone recommend something?
  13. Wow fantastic pictures well done
