It would have been his friends and relatives who would have arranged the funeral, not him.

The border with Belarus would be the closest I think, followed by Latvia and Ukraine, but all a fair distance. I would have thought that the border with Ukraine would be bristling with Russian military surveillance installations and personnel so not the best direction to head. All speculation at this stage anyway.

Bricked Up House 481 Queen's Road

I often walk past this house and have wondered what the story is. The peeling paint on the upstairs window frames is a shade of green that says 1940s to me. -

Make John Birkhill A Sir Do You Agree?

I'm not disputing that a plaque would be a fitting tribute, but even if one had been laid, it seems there's still no guarantee that you, personally, would have heard about it. -

Blue plaques aren't only about celebrating "famous" people. They go beyond that. https://historicengland.org.uk/whats-new/news/national-blue-plaques-scheme/ "Recent polling has revealed that 84% of people in England think it is important that people pass on stories of local history, and place-marking initiatives such as the blue plaques scheme can increase levels of civic pride and positive connections to place, and encourage a sense of belonging."

I'm lucky then, because with my neighbours, whoever gets to the emptied bins first, puts them back in place. A tacit arrangement. -
New Supertram Stop Approved
horribleblob replied to SheffieldForum's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
The only times I've been to Magna is to meet up with a friend from over Rotherham way (me travelling from Sheffield), so a tram stop at Magna could be ideal for us. True, that only makes for two passengers.
