  1. The thing I can not abide is the weird facial expressions and the unexpected moments of drooling! but then there are so many symptoms to catalogue them would make you ill (lol)
  2. Before I got PD I use to manage the old Locarno night club so was fairly outgoing but living on my nerves, always aware of the atmosphere, would there be a fight tonight, would the police interveen, would drug pushers be in etc. When the Locarno was sold, moved south to work on the Channel Tunnel where I did some welding, there is a train of thought that the fumes from welding cause PD Then was diagnosed with PD and my world collapsed. Loss of confidence, self esteem, increased bad tempers. loss of partner. Where would it end. I have since had DBS which was successful for about 4 years but now I seem back to square one
  3. Hi does anyone have details about a car boot being advertised in a field just off the Round about that leads onto the Dronfield bypass at the bottom of batemoor and jordanthorpe. It says on the gate sellers £1 Is it a current carboot or an old no longer running one. What time does it open to sellers? thanx Mike
  4. I am writing a book about my illness, I found that the way forward was to just jot everything down as it occured or as I remembered it. I did not actually start writing until 2 or 3 months after taking these notes. Put these in chronological order and commence writing, fattening out these notes, and adding more as you remember it. Then you require a good friend to act as an editor and to go through each section as you write it, and giving his or her thoughts on the style of writing and the content. The next stage if it is a biography or an autobiog, is to let people who are included in the book, read the relevant sections for accuracy and to avoid legal problems if you do publish.
  5. Thanks to all for your replies, I tnink that bainstorming, Just messing around , seems the answer, I also am striving too hard for perfection, but there again what is perfection? It is all relative. I just have to mess about with different forms and aspects of the media. Wait for that sudden switching on of inspiration. Make notes of that inspiration for use in the dry times. I was given some pictures and collectors calendars yesterday, so perhaps there is inspiration in amongst this. Thank you mike
  6. I like your Father suffer bad sleep patterns (I am typing this at 4am for my sins) I was on a high dosage of tablets L.dopa pramipexole taking them every 3 hours even during the night. I was then lucky enough to be given Deep Brain Stimulation and since then I have had a bit of respite. Lately though the condition has worsened and I am currently using two Rotigotine 8mg patches daily and six co-caraldopa tablets daily but still tremor greatly! Now the DWP want me to go for re-assesment for invalidity benefit. I wish the Idiots at DWP had Parkinson's for 1 month. then they would know!
  7. A poem I wrote whilst awaiting major surgery in France! in 2006. It is one of many that Express my feelings about my illness, My life, my surroundings. I am considering putting it all down in a book. What do you think. http://sheffieldwriters.ath.cx/SFStoryArchive/1303338883.doc

  9. Hi I suffer with this condition, and know the pain only too well. I visited the doctor on Friday who is now prescribing Volturan emulgel to massage into my foot twice a day, plus the pain killers he had already prescribed. He also gave me a sheet of foot excersises that he downloaded from a site callled Dr foot. Told me to get a pair of higher heel shoes or better still Trainers like Nike Air that offer better instep support and a softer tread. I will keep you posted as to progress!
  10. Hi, I am wanting to find out what adaptions I can have done to my home to make life easier. I live in Derbyshire and find the stairs painfull and scary to climb. I am thinking of having a downstairs toilet put in or a stair lift fitted. Who do I contact to find out what help is available? or What is the first step in seeing if this is possible? I have trouble with Arthiritis and Parkinson's!
  11. Hi we are expecting a baby boy and have decided to call him Jayden Joshua or JJ for short. We think that this is an unusual name, does anyone know of others called Jayden?
  12. Good on you for at least looking, My daughter is 16 and though we try to encourage her to find a part time job she just sits and grumbles about having little or no money! I am sure that eventually you will find something. Just keep on trying. At your age I had a paper round, a part time job at a supermarket and I helped the milkman on the weekend.
  13. Does anybody have any Ideas as to how to overcome a blockage of ideas. I get my artist things out, but as soon as I put the pencil on the paper I simply freeze and lose all inspiration. This is also happening with my writing I simply Freeze and end up putting away my pad. In the past this was not a problem I loved painting watercolour scenes and flowers, and wrote poetry at least once a week. This is getting frustrating please help me unblock my creative side Mike
  14. Does anyone suffer from Parkinson's disease. I was a young person who contracted Parkinson's at the age of 35 years. I am interested in hearing from fellow persons who live with this problem. I am wanting to share stories of day to day living and coping with the disease. stories of Medication, it's effects, How you cope, How carers cope, do you have mood swings, Compulsive behaviour, This week it is Parkinsons Awareness Week A chance to make others aware of the Disease and it's effects.
  15. Hi I have come across a site that accepts entries for competitions. It is a relatively new site and the membership is only upto 15 members. To enter competitions costs £1.00 and to vote on your best Poetry or Prose also costs £1.00 The name of the site is.strictlyshakespeare.if you google it. Just thought that budding poets might like to be in on the start of something. It costs nothing to join. Mike
