  1. good on you for not letting these thugs drive you out of the tavern-you have proved you are no pushover and lets hope that this trouble has not scared the local genuine punters away from the tavern-we dont need anymore pubs closing down-pubs these days need the heart of the community to keep the local pub open
  2. if you message bushbaby i reacon he will know as he is brilliant on here on the p x forum
  3. ha ha,,i cant believe she remembers,,im going back 30 years now-tell her i said hello
  4. does anyone remember getting a car wheel with tyre on and cut it and pull it inside out to make a plant pot-i once took one to maureen-she got her stanley knife out and cut zig zags in thr tyre wall including the strenghening bars and folded it inside out for me,,,,she was brilliant but did not see much of mick as i think he may have worked away alot but i could be wrong
  5. ahh i remember now-maureen was real nice. we used to go to their house when we was kids as i was friends with joanne and sharon -im sure that joanne's dad worked cleaning cooling towers or chimneys-im going back about 25 to 30 years now and i was at joanne's house and either jo or sharon put a garden fork through her foot,,ouch,, but i got sharon and jo on my facebook so it was good to catch up
  6. im sure that he had 2 sons- john and michael wragg,,they lived on mansel road basicly on the junction of mansel crescent-if it who im thinking im sure john was related to the radrord's on chaucer

  8. thanks for that,,mr strawson was great,,he would let us go on his gargen for conkers as long as we took a bag round collecting the conker shells off the grass for him,,
  9. does anyone know why the strawson's big bungalow on the bend of chaucer/yew lane has beed demolished
  10. i drove past the tavern and its to let-the bottom of the doors had like security grills on so im sure its closed down till they find someone to take her on and the parson cross hotel open as usual but w,t,f has happened to the cross????? i went there yesterday for the first time in about 2 years,,my god there is a new school on mansel,,chaucer upper near halifax road is now flat, and buchanon is crazy,,the new council office and asda-my god what has happened to the cross,,,i know times move on but i loved the old parson cross,,houses on deerlands, buchanon and mansel,,now its just grass,,,sad to see yesterday :(
  11. back in the 90's the tavern was always packed out,,,especially when the tombola finished at 10.30 in colley club and people used to walk onto the tavern or the beagle for last orders
  12. it will end up demolished and houses or flats built on it-just like the huntsman-and a great pint they did
  13. im not sure-my bro's best mate was andrew parkin-he is about 43 now and lived on deerlands near parson cross hotel-his nan and grandad lived on deerlands mount-the house was gutted in a fire back in the early 80's-may be not related to you mate
  14. there will be only 1 golden palace-that was on buchannon-the new one is not the same
