  1. That's fantastic help, thanks. And yes if there's anything else, that would be great. I'm curious is that earning of £350-400 after the £120 for the car or before? Is it a take home amount I think I mean. Thansk again
  2. Hi, I'm going to an Ignition meeting on Monday and I'm curious about working for Uber. My main concern is the outlay that I'll have to front. I don't have a new car so will have to invest in one as well as being able to cover the costs of a private hire licence, fuel, maintenance etc. I'd like to know what realistic monthly earnings are through Uber and over how many hours. They will tell me glorious stories of earning top amounts of cash, but that will likely be in other towns that have different populations/popularity of Uber, that kind of thing. I would have to give up my job to do this and I don't want to fail as I have a family to support. Any help will be gratefully appreciated.
  3. Hello, steampunk is quite closely related to other subgenres, cosplay, burlesque, etc (close enough to be friendly, but not to crawl up the inside of the quilt and tweak it's nipples). As such I'm happy to post about anything like that. The readers will be happy to read that sort of thing, I think.
  4. Hello, did you get this sorted out?
  5. Hi, I offer hourly rates on my photography. It doesn't include pictures, but that means you're in complete control of how much you spend. A lot of people get me for a couple of hours around the ceremony then choose what pictures they want after that. I'd love for you to take a look at my portfolio and get in touch if you'd like to find out more.
  6. Hi everyone, I run a steampunk website called Steampunk Journal (steampunkjournal.org) and I have a campaign constantly running called Steampunk Write, Steampunk Read. With steampunk being a literary subgenre, I wanted to highlight the great independently published novels that are out there. It works by publishing the back page brief with full links to selling sites, social media and websites, then the following week I publish the first chapter. The idea is to get steampunks reading the stories that they may normally miss. The first chapter will hopefully get people interested in your story to go and buy it. I am welcoming steampunk, cyberpunk and dieselpunk novels as well as others in similar themes so if you want to get your name out there, email matt@steampunkjournal.org Also, if you're into subgenres and have something to write about I'd love to hear from you. I'm interested in stories, tales and yarns both made up and real. I run a satirical news section called Alternate News which works a little like Daily Mash but with a Victorian inspired science fiction theme in an alternate Britain(eg, London Underground trains to be replaced with teleportation devices) and would love to publish anyone's ideas. I don't make anything from the site, so can't offer financial reward, but I'm not going to try and convince you that it's great exposure either. I'll leave that up to you to decide.. ;-) Come and pop in and say hello either way, I usually have a spare pipe knocking around...
  7. I agree with the sensor theory...
  8. Jacobs do it at £478.99 but there's £40 cashback at the moment via cheque redemption.
  9. Jacobs do deal with second hand, it's just generally held at our Oxford Street branch or scattered around the country. The reason we don't have too much is because we're a new store and it's generally the older ones that have picked it up over the years. A PDF of the whole second hand section for the company can be downloaded from our website and we can get anything in for you to look at. We just took in an EOS 350D the other day but it's not a had a price given to it yet so I'll have to update later.
  10. You sure it wasn't The Sorcerer's Apprentice? That woman would be Nicholas Cage and would make me laugh.
  11. Every time I watch Santa Buddies. Not because it's a sad story with moving performances but because I'm so upset at the amount of film that has been wasted and that Disney would lower their standards to such a level. Seriously, a dog that thinks it's street calling everyone "dawg" while it break dances? It's enough to make anyone cry in dismay.
  12. I reallyenjoyed Delicatessen. I also think Martyrs is an awesome and brutal film.
  13. Your thought on video is an interesting one. Think of the depth of field you can achieve filming on the larger sensor though? Also the dedicated types of lenses available to attain a particular type of shot. I found a story a year or so ago about a new type of material that could possibly be applied to sensors. It's designed in the shape of little spires that trap light and funnel it down to the pixel capturing up to 98% of light, compared to the current 85% that modern sensors can trap. This would create impossibly high ISO and essentially eradicate the need for flash to boost light. Flash would simply be banished to the realms of the niche market that wanted to control it in a creative way with built-in flash possibly being removed from all cameras...?
  14. Drew Perry mentioned that it's how high street retailers make profit and matt lollar said that retailers are the place to get sound advice so the two are intrinsically linked whether you like it or not. That was also the point I was getting at. Are you also looking at like for like? While I know for a fact that PNY are a good card, Sandisk Ultra are proven to be Water, Shock and X-Ray proof while Extreme are also Temperature proof. They also offer a lifetime warranty. You may scoff that all cards are indestructible but Sandisk are willing to back it with a guarantee.
  15. The point is that Jacobs are striving to keep high street prices as competitive as possible and even £1 on a memory card counts towards saving the customer money while giving a personal experience.
