  1. Hi everyone, Wonder if anyone can help me. My son is desperate for some of those Crazy Bones gogo things that EVERYBODY (apparantly) in his class has got. Does anyone know where to get them? Tried the local shops but to no avail. Does anyone know if Asda, Woolworths or Toys R Us might stock them? He's driving me mad!!!
  2. That should say 2008 - not a smily face!
  3. Woodhouse Juniors Under 7's are a goalkeeper short for the coming season. Players must be in Year 2 (i.e. under 7 on 1st September 2008). Anyone interested please call Dick - 0114 2540956 or Russell - 07792695646
  4. I got caught by this a few months ago doing about 33 as it happens. Didn't get a fine or points, just a warning.
  5. Some schools are back, others have 2 teacher training days so it needs someone with a kid at Wisewood to tell them one way or another. Does Wisewood school have a website - if so it may tell you on there
  6. But if the school couldn't cope with him and didn't have the resources for his special needs they should have addressed the matter properly before it got to this stage. By keeping him in at playtime and ultimately expelling him they aren't helping the situation and are making him feel it is his fault which is a terrible thing to put on him. Believe me I don't subscribe to all these so called illnesses that are put on people that are then used as an explanation for their behaviour (especially adults) but some kids do have special needs and it's heartbreaking to see the inner torment they go through. If schools are going to accept kids with SEN then they need to make sure they adequately provide for them. Stressed_mum I hope you get something sorted out for your little boy soon. It just goes to prove my point that the 'top' schools aren't always the 'best' schools! Good luck.
  7. Sorry, I hijacked the thread a little for a rant on one of my pet hates! You're right, some schools are just crap but I know someone who's catchment school was hunters bar and they didn't even apply there cos they wanted an even better school - work that out!!!
  8. My sentiments exactly, I find some peoples attitudes to the school thing astonishing. There aren't that many local schools that are really really bad, just average. My son goes to the local school which has got a good reputation and average stats but they are interested in the kids and strict on behaviour and seem to be giving all the right messages out to them. My son is happy there and as a result so am I. But some folk just want their kids to go to the 'right' school in the 'right' area. Before I get bashed for this comment I have no problem with people wanting what's best for their kids but that's not always the school with the best stats. If a kids not einstein he/she can't be made into one. If you are sending your kid to school miles away they won't be able to see as much of their mates after school like we used to? And if people are pushing their finances to move in the right area how's little Johnny / Jenny gonna feel when all the rich kids at school are getting the latest trainers / playstation etc and their parents can't afford it?
  9. You can get one if you work for HSBC as well - don't know why!
  10. Hi, Does anyone know anyone who could fix my guttering - it's come away from the downpipe with the high winds we had a few weeks ago. The problem is it's right above my carport so it's not as straight forward as just putting a ladder up there. I've reported this to my insurance company who have agreed to pay but I really don't know how much it's gonna cost - I have a £100 excess. I have searched the forums and phoned a couple of people but the carport is the problem - may need a roofer. Thanks
  11. Hi everyone. Frenchie - I know but it's worth a shot when you're freezing eh?!?! Kashul - thanks for the tip - Andy had already suggested getting them to do a one off fix - it's £156. Anyway, I've got British Gas coming out this afternoon so feel loads better about that - have taken out the home cover thing anyway cos it does need servicing, always thought my boiler was too old but apparantly not so. So it looks like we may be seeing the new year in all nice warm and toasty. Thanks for your replies everyone
  12. Any plumbers got a slot available today? My boiler is not working - it's a combi boiler Glowworm space saver mark II. The pilot light is on but as soon as I try and switch on for heat or water it clicks back off again almost immediately. I've tried to phone a few of the plumbers from here but most aren't answering. Have spoken to Andy who seems to think it may be the pump that needs replacing, unfortunately he can't come out until Friday so has suggested I try and find someone else. It's freezing and we have no hot water and with a 5 year old that's no fun! So if anyone can help me I would greatly appreciate it. Why do things always happen at this time of year?
