  1. I'm a handyman based in dronfield and make enough to support my family. I changed a light bulb for a new customer yesterday (elderly lady) whose husband had died on xmas morning, I didn't charge her. I was passing and it took 10 minutes as was behind glass bowl. To me that is satisfying helping someone out who's having a tough time. £50 by the sparkie is a **** take. I believe in being fair with people and when that customer needs a.job doing they'll hopefully think of me. Being self employed is about doing a good job for a fair price but also you have to be respectful and sell yourself too.
  2. Driven from Dronfield to Rotherham at 0430. Main roads in Dronfield passable. There was a snow plough on beauchief roundabout and followed a plough and gritter from Norton aerodrome to manor top. They then u turned and went back towards Norton on pow road. Good work from the council.
  3. excellent piece of work. did anyone notice the slug bottom left at 1:13. i wonder if it was a paid cameo?
  4. i am a very keen road cyclist and it really irks me when cyclists jump red lights. Last weekend i saw 197 cyclists jumping red lights mile after mile around sheffield. imagine my disbelief when i saw that they were escorted by the police who did nothing to stop them and they were followed by a number of cars who seemed to think it was also ok to do it. Even worse were the members of the public who were encouraging them to do it by cheering and clapping - the country has gone mad!
  5. i'd say that there must be another fuse. sticking a key in probably blew the fuse
  6. if the fuse is ok then it must be a wiring fault. is there definitely voltage at the socket? have you checked with a voltmeter or tried another type of charger in it. most chargers for phones and t wat navs have fuses in them!
  7. if i wasn't married then i would. life is too short for procrastination. the worst that can happen is they say no!
  8. was the chip chat related in anyway to the big mac discussion?
  9. make sure you have deep pockets and a good set of tools and spanners. We used to own a bay window camper and we loved the 3 years of ownership. Things you should consider though are running costs, they need constant maintenance eg oil changes every 3000 miles on the aircooled engines. They are very simple to work on if what you need to remove/undo has not rusted solid in position. if you aren't confident with spanners, tools etc.. the bills can get quite high. If you are used to driving a modern car then they can take some getting used to, these buses can weigh up to 2 tonnes and have brakes made of cheese (in std form). You'll never got caught speeding as a std 1600 aircooled in a bus will top at at 60mph (ish). 55mph is a good speed for them with a prevailing tail wind or downhill slope seeing the extra mph. Having said all that the hard work and cost is over ruled by the sheer fun and enjoyment of sitting on a cliff top with a brew/food prepared in your bus as others sit in their cars eating their butties. check out http://www.volkszone.co.uk and http://www.justkampers.co.uk for some excellent help and buses for sale
  10. there are a few between meadowhall and the retail park. also there are some old mills up past hillsborough going out towards dam flask.
  11. we moved to dronfield in august from lincolnshire and we love it. it is so easy to get anywhere from here, be it meadowhall or derbyshire hills. there are plenty of schools in the area which all get decent ofsted reports. goodluck in your hunting - it took us about a year to get a house we wanted and liked. dronny woodhouse is lovely but we just couldn't find the house for us, we now live near hallowes golf course and it is lovely up there. 5 minutes walk and you are in lovely countryside.
  12. it is an annoyance at gigs. as i've got older i prefer a nice comfy seat in the stands and avoiding **** showers. it would be hard to police but as previously said ban booze. the problem is that it is a big revenue stream for the venue so it is unlikely to be banned. personally i don't see the point in getting trashed at a gig. you spend half the night in the toilets and miss out on what you paid good money to see.
