Hi all, Does anyone know why the police were blocking off Vincent Road this morning? There were two big vans and at least one other squad car - looked pretty serious, but I've seen nothing in the news?

I thought this was an interesting comment, so I had a look at the figures. It turns out that the price of lager and the median wage have increased by roughly the same amount in the past 20 years. I'm not disagreeing with the post - for one thing, this data doesn't go back to 1991, and for another it's the median wages rather than the minimum wage (although the pattern is similar when looking at the lowest paid 10% over the same time period). Disappointed to see that Nourish on Pinstone Street has shut down. I went in last month and was surprised to see that they'd shut the upstairs section, which clearly didn't bode well. At the end of the day clearly their business model didn't quite work out, but I think it's a shame to have lost one of the few places in the city centre focused on tasty, healthy fast food. I live nearby and have a season ticket. The development plans are more for tactical reasons than any desire to start work imminently. Major building work is unlikely unless we manage a run of Premier League seasons. It's good to have these plans to showcase the potential of the ground to new investors, and I understand that new/more detailed plans may have needed to be submitted in order to maintain extant planning permission. The Kop is in most serious need of work doing to it, but ideally it would be knocked down and completely rebuilt, which doesn't seem likely. I welcome the plans - I don't really see why there would be a negative impact on the local area. It's a nice thought. Sadly the track record of IoT (Internet of Things - home appliances connected to the internet) companies is absolutely appalling when it comes to security, even where security is the fundamental purpose of the product. I'm surprised that there isn't a thread here yet on Tramlines. Is everyone a bit jaded about the whole thing? There used to be a chap on the forum who posted links to his Facebook posts previewing each day of the festival and making suggestions of interesting bands to check out. I don't suppose anyone is doing something similar this year?

I think I probably misunderstand what you're talking about but The Forum, Washington, Frog & Parrot, Harley and possibly even the Cavendish are all unpretentious, have space to dance and a range of cask ale.

West Street Live is the only bar I've been turned away from, which is amusing as it's hardly the classiest place in town - they have a problem with people wearing Lacoste. Other than that I've been in most places wearing Converse and a t-shirt, although I suspect quite a few of the clubs (except the Leadmill and Corp) and more pretentious bars will turn people away based on their clothes if they're getting full or "dont think you'd fit". I never worry about what I'm wearing but if you're going on a rare night out you might as well wear shoes and a shirt - why risk it?

Yes it does, but I've been surprised a couple of times not to find the football on so unless the staff are particularly rugby fans I wouldn't hold your breath. To be picky, The Forum is downstairs and as far as I know doesn't have a TV. Upstairs is The Common Room and they have millions of TVs. A thumbs up from me as well - great location and selection of beers - but I'm mystified by the beer tokens. The only time I've come across them in the past it's been a straightforward exchange of 1 token = 1 beer and works really well. I understand why that's not possible when beers are priced differently but in that case why the elaborate pseudomoney?
