  1. I'm looking for an automatic instructor who can get to S12? I'm looking to do 2 x 90 minute lessons a week. I can take 1 afternoon off a week for an earlier start but the other lesson say around 6pm midweek or earlier on a weekend? Ideally very alert but patient and able to build confidence through encouragement. I'm able to pay for block bookings after a successful lesson or 2. PM me please.
  2. I'm sure there are lots of different BBQ styles and there are certain rules for the Texas BBQ style to adhere too, but at the same time it's Sheffield and the amount of people going that have a clue about the different BBQ styles can probably be sat around 1 of their barrel style tables. For the restaurant to succeed they must be able to cater for a broader taste, either by offering a choice of sauces or changing the current one.
  3. Went to check Smoke BBQ restaurant out yesterday to line the stomach before NYE celebrations. I love Ribs and general Americsn style food so was really looing forward to this. The logo and general look of the place when I had passed it previously made me think it was going to be a cut above "Ribshack" which didn't cut the mustard and closed after a short shelf life. Sadly I can't be too favourable about my experience. Despite a good initial first impression from the outside, and the decor it was largely downhill from there. Some of the food was good, but tainted as I'll explain below. Sitting down both myself and my friend remarked that the chairs (like wooden school chairs) were quite uncomfortable. The menu was printed on A4 paper, one side with a limited food selection and the other a drink selection. There are no mainstream brands on offer in the beer/cider section, just drinks that suit an aquired/left of centre taste. There was no Strongbow / Magners type drinks on offer and the only cider remaining in stock was Jeremiah Weed and it came with a hefty £5 price tag, and didn't taste much like cider at all. The food options included a range of burgers, ribs, chicken, pork and beef. Surprsingly for a BBQ restaurant there was not a steak option though. The one sharing platter on offer seemed to include a range of the side dishes rather than smaller portions of the good stuff available as individual meals. I fancied a Ribs & BBQ chicken combo, but sadly this wasn't an option. I went for the BBQ chicken and took the £5 extra option for added portion of Rib Ends. My friend had the pulled pork and also ordered the Rib Ends. Unfortunately we were then informed the Rib Ends weren't available, so we chose to order an extra main of St Louis ribs at £14 and share that. The food came directly on what appeared to be grease proof trays lined with paper. I know plates are deemed unfashionable now, but these trays didn't provide a good "framing" for the food, it felt pretty cheap to be honest. Its a good job we did order the extra main as the original portion of chips was pretty small, so this way we actually managed to have a decent portion each by sharing the extra portion that came with the third main. The chips themselves were quite nice, though they were "fish & chips" style chips rather than fries or nandos style chips that I associate with BBQ food. The chicken was also good, and I can recommend that dish, you get a half chicken and it was nice and juicy. My friend seemed happy with his pulled pork too. Unfortunately we weren't so impressed with the ribs, they were quite dry and compared to the other two dishes the meat content was fairly low, there was much more bone than meat. I'd have still been hungry if I had just ordered the ribs. Surprisingly none of the dishes are served with BBQ sauce, rather you have a jar of "home made" BBQ sauce on your table. I smothered it on my food, only to find to my dismay that it was sickly sweet. My friend said he felt like he just poured syrup on his pork. I am a big fan of BBQ sauce, but this sauce at Smoke is for a vey aquired taste, and I hope that the restaurant will either change their sauce to something with a more traditional smokey BBQ flavour or at least offer a smokey BBQ sauce option alongside this one. Overall I would say that theres quite a few issues to be ironed out here, but it's possible these are just teething issues and should reports of improved Ribs, drink selection and BBQ sauce surface over the coming months, I may consider returning again.
  4. Agree that it is a poor line-up considering they're charging for this one.Might as well charge £10 a day and have someone good on rather than do it this way.
  5. I don't tip if the food isn't good, simply because I can't justify paying more than I have to for a sub-standard product. I normally tip 10% though. I don't agree with service charges in all cases but I do agree with service charges for large parties of 7 or more. These parties are hard work for the waiter/waitress and you can always guarantee that one or two in a group of that size would otherwise "forget" to tip.
  6. Don't know how busy it will be, but Markus Schulz in DJing at the O2 Academy tomorrow. He plays a hybrid of House and Trance.
  7. I second La Vaca! South American Steak > Italian/European Steak.
  8. I sold at $160 and bought back at $67. Hopefully it's will stabilise at around $85.
  9. True, though some find that gaining something is a better feeling than losing nothing. If you're not quite so capitalistic though I'm sure you won't mind sharing to aid the even redistribution of Sheffield's bitcoin wealth (I only have 2 BTC) 1Cft97XSgaAxxo9Vto8c1FUPUdLgQmqodn
  10. Nagel are you not considering selling the remaining 25 now? They are at a record high $197. I bought in at $100 so I'm hoping they can push on to $350 for a decent return, some seem confident that it will hit $1000+ but if they ever do I'm sure it will be after this bubble has burst, too many people must be getting itchy feet I reckon.
  11. If by young un's you mean 18-21 then try Viper Rooms on a Saturday where the average age is probably more like 24. But if that's still a bit too young try Jacosa, (Saturday or Sunday) it's more of a late bar than a club but its got a good vibe and you get a big age range from 20 to 40 in there.
  12. Go for Viper if you want to be with the 20 something fashionistas, Crystal for a more mature "salt of the earth" crowd, or Paris if you get turned away from the other 2!
  13. Don't let the police see this, Genting will get closed down for health and safety for overfilling a venue far beyond capacity.
  14. Nail on head - especially the Hooters bit, though I dare say Leopold Square wasn't the right area for it, but it would do well around West One! The area around St Pauls / Peace Gardens would suit a late bar or two aimed at the 20something crowd, its a nice area and Sheffield nightlife needs to branch out from the West St/Division St area as its getting so samey and boring.
  15. This is Sheffield the "Owt for Nowt" capital of the world. It only works because its free. The majority locals have no knowledge, passion or desire for live music or so many gigs through the rest of the year wouldnt have such abysmal turn outs. Its the one weekend where we can pretend this isn't the case. Don't ruin it!
