  1. I remember Taggys ice cream for the little lumps of ice in it. I could see Taggys yard from where we lived, think its been demolished now. Can you remember Elliots chippie, there was alway a queue stretching outside the shop on Saturdays. They were the best chips in Sheffield.
  2. I live on Frecheville now and have done for the last 20 years. I have often wondered about the history of the estate. Is it right that all tenants had to provide referenced to rent on the estate? You'll be pleased to know that the Community Centre still perform pantomines there and the Carnival is a regular feature of the year. I know, I live on one of the cul de sacs near the pond. A lot has changed on the estate now, most of the houses have been sold off. We still pay our £7.99 a year ground rent to The First National Housing Trust though. I would love to hear of any other memories you have of the estate.
  3. My favourites were XL Crisps with the little blue bag and Wagon Wheels, before they shrunk to what they are today.
  4. I remember Heeley very well, used to live on Derby Street, top of Penns Road from 1967 to 1970. Went to Heeley Bank Junior School. My nan lived on the maisonettes on Abney Drive, near the Upper Heeley Club. The picture palace was a bingo when I remember it, there used to be a herbalist shop on Heeley Green where my grandad would take me for a glass of sasparella. The grocer on Heeley Green had a a black poodle as did my grandad. He asked the owner of the shop if the 2 dogs could mate and the shop owner said no. So one day when my grandad was out walking the dog, he saw the shop owners dog in the back yard alone. Yes, my grandad without the dog owners consent pushed our poodle in the yard and low and behold 6 pups were born. The shop owner never did find out.
