  1. Didn't people learn from last week? Unless your journey is essential, you shouldn't be on the roads. It was forecast.
  2. Didn't there used to be one in the Thompson directory that came free through the door?
  3. If the service is branded as a Stagecoach service, they may brand certain carriages at certain times of the day as 'megatrain.com', which they have done on their South West Trains franchise. In this case, seats start at £1 + 50p booking fee.
  4. Referring to the original post, whilst the driver's personal actions sound a bit aggressive, and if they were, should handle himself better, people are presuming that the bus driver was at fault, which is rarely the case. Roundabouts are a case in point. Car drivers are driving faster and faster these days with their more modern cars. I have often observed instances where a bus has started to pull out onto a clear roundabout only for a car to come shooting round it, meeting the bus, which is already pulling out. Car driver has to slow down = not a happy car driver. They fail to take into account how much room & time large vehicles need. A fully laden articulated bus can be 18m long and weigh approx 20 tonnes. Car drivers should drive accordingly. Notwithstanding the above, I agree with the various comments about 'MASS'. It is certainly one of the less reputable operators in the County, with regards to staff, vehicles, vehicle presentation & condition.
  5. I have a small amount of porridge (always with cold milk) - it keeps you full until morning.
  6. Problem is, as much as you and I like it, I don't think F1 is everyone's cup of tea, so doubt they would have the sound up, and with other noise in the pub, would be difficult to listen to Jame's and Martin's commentary. Can't you put your telly in the garden..?
  7. ...and as the PTE have started charging bus operators for each departure from Interchanges and some City Centre bus stops, this cost will have to be passed onto customers in the form of a fares rise before too long. This is not the operator's fault on this occasion though. The PTE are trying to reclaim money they have spent reimbursing operators for concessionary fares payments, which they were entitled to anyway. It all stems from the government not administering the scheme properly from April 1st last year.
  8. No alowances are given for traffic and other delays that are know where the driver will make allowances for such things to allow correct arrival at timing points. That's pathetic. If drivers are aware of a particluar problem in the timetable, they should bring it to the attention of their manager, who should make arrangements for the journey to be re-timed. A journey should never run early, at any point along the route, for any reason. I can understand your frustration at your employer though. The Wayfarer III machines are getting very old now. With the GPS technology available today, a large company like First should be investing in updating the equipment and utilising real-time info.
  9. Stagecoach introduced an evening service on the 120 on a commercial basis some months ago. If this proves worthwhile, they may introduce an evening service on some of their other routes, but remember that many of First's evening and sunday routes are tendered - First wouldn't entertain running them on a commercial basis. Stagecoach Sheffield's predecessor 'Sheffield Omnibus' ran the 52 commercially in the evenings during the early - mid 1990s, as they did many other routes, so anything is possible. Agree with you about the legroom though, it is nothing less than shocking on some models, meaning when I visit the City I either have to sit sidewards across two seats, or sit at the very back or on a granny seat at the front. These buses were inherited by Stagecoach with the Traction Group business, which went for a quantity rather than quality approach. Stagecoach's own specification uses better individual seats which have much more legroom between them, so i'm sure that this will improve over time
  10. For all you know the tram driver could have only been alerting the cyclist of the tram's presence. As there are so many aggressive and bad drivers these days, the problem is when a professional driver activates his/her audible warning device (i.e. horn) in a normal manner, people presume this is aggressive.
  11. If they want to be treated equally, they need to brush up on the highway code. They should also be taxed and insured, like "any other vehicle on the road".
  12. Too many cars these days. People think they have the right to park outside their house with their 2 or 3 cars, without taking into account how close to a junction they are parked, or if there or already cars parked on the other side of the road, or appreciating how much room buses and other large vehicles require.
  13. Thanks! I was sick of reading threads that are moans on the same subjects, so went back in time to see if I could find anything interesting
  14. Speed limits are speed limits and I have no sympathy with those who get caught speeding. I do, however, think there should be more traffic police on our roads, as some of these have been assigned to other duties over recent years.
