  1. In the 1881 census Joseph Carr and his family lived there he was 'a farmer of 43 acres no men employed' however 3 sons of working age lived with him as well as 3 daughters. Amos Knowles had this dairy in the 1940/50s, his bottles were unusual in that they had very wide tops unlike the co-op dairies that followed. My mother remembers in the 1920's the milk being delivery by hand cart and the farmer would measure a pint into the jug you took out to him. The Norton History Group may have more information.

  6. I attended Greystones from early 1950s to being transferred to King Ecgberts - Name Ann Ford. I still meet regularly with two friends I made whilst there Margaret Haley and Patricia Turley.
  7. The Lantern theatre is not in Upperthorpe it is on Kenwood Park Road, Netheredge. There was a theatre in upperthorpe up the hill from the baths can't remember the name
  8. Am research my family history - they were file cutters in Norton from about 1870 to 1950 - anyone any infomrtion on the other Norton families who were cutter, hardners or filesmiths.
  9. I am trying to trace any news article or infomration relating to my grandfather William Ford who worked for the Railway police (Midland Station) around 1925-40. I have a photgraph of him being presented with an award - we think a medal but have no information about this. Does anyone know where I might start looking for information?
