  1. Hi Mel, I didn't realise until I read your comment that I got the year wrong, it would be around 1959 when I started in Magill's class and your right about Mr Martin as he was just before I went there. Good to have read your post, cheers
  2. I grew up on the Wybourn and had a very happy childhood there, i went on to St Pauls after St Oswalds. Most of my friend went to Wybourn School. There was a character about the place back then, may still be the same today but I left the Wybourn many years ago but I still look back with nostalgia... how about you?
  3. The one on Chapel Walk was 'Cann the music man' i think, and there was a Violet May's on Dixon lane that I remember well.
  4. I guess your first job in life has a nostalgia others don't, I often wonder what happend to people. Most were great some were bullies but I see them all in my minds eye as if it were a few years ago...
  5. It's great to see replies, wasn't sure anyone would!. I know Dave Cooper from when I was there, remember his Dad too that worked just across the road. I remember Alf Ward, Brian Bilson, Paddy Corcoran was my boss to, a gentleman.. been a blast from the passed. Fond memories. thanks
  6. Anyone out there worked at Brook Shaw's in the 60's/70's? be good to hear..
  7. Great to hear from former students from st oswalds. Miss Finnegan was head in my time (late 50's early 60's) and quite by chance I met Keith Neale (former head) in my adult years and we still see him as a family friend. Mrs Brufton was a real scary character when I was in her class, she seamed to hate me and i was always on the wrong side of her but I always liked her!
  8. I came across this thread and it took me back to happy days at st oswalds in the late 50's early 60's I remember all the teachers, cooks and care taker. It was a great time. Be great to hear from others.
  9. By chance I came across a tread on St Pauls expats, it was great to read some of the entires from those that attended in the late sixties and bringing back memories of those reachers and attendees... i hope other contribute, it would be great!
