  1. If you like live music, then the Waverley Pub Catcliffe is the place to go, there is a live band on every Friday, they play songs from the 50's 60's 70's 80' and more, what a group of talented musicians these guys are, plus you will get a good pint, served by the landlady Yvonne, this is a friendly pub not too far from either end of Sheffield, and if you fancy getting up and doing a song or taking your guitar along they will accommodate you with anything you want to sing or play, so if you are fed up with watching TV on Friday nights get yourselves to The Waverley, you WILL have a good night, guaranteed.

Hi, How do you fancy a good old chinwag about when we all used to play in the groups back in the sixties, three of us (ex Square Circles, Alan Dale, Phil Swaine, and myself, are meeting at the Bankers Draft in Castle Square in Sheffield, on Tuesday 13th December from 12.00pm onwards. So, all ex groupers, and followers of groups, if you have nothing else better to do, why not come along, for a pint, and a chat about the good old days when we used to play in the groups back in the 60's. Cheers for now.

  11. A couple of weeks ago i met up with two former members of the Square Circles. Alan Dale, lead singer, and Phil Clare, lead guitarist, we have not seen each other since we split up in the sixties. Alan Dale brought with him a battered old note book which we wrote down the songs we used to do at the gigs we were at, this book is about 45 years old, there are some really great songs written in it, see if you can remember any. Doctor Feelgood - Poison Ivy - Love potion No 9 - Walking the Dog - Road Runner - Route 66 - Skinny Minnie - Young Blood - You'd Better Move On - Too much Monkey Business - Duke of Earl - Talkin' about You - Send her back to Georgia - It's Alright - Didley Daddy - Got my Mojo Workin' - Stagerlee - Git It- King Bee - Tell Me - Little Queenie - Hundred Pounds of Clay - Scratch-Scratch - Mother in Law - Honey Don't - Ya-Ya - She's a Rebel - Kansas City. No, I can't remember some of them either, but we had some good times playing them. Happy Days.
  12. Re - Alan Dale (Warrington) Met up with Alan Dale, Mond 9th May, also Phil Clare, ex lead guitarist with Square Circles, first time we've seen each other for 40 + years, got in touch through this forum, better than Friends Re-united.
  13. Does anyone remember the " Topstar Special" that was published as a supplement by the Telegraph and Star in the 60's, it used to feature news and photographs about local bands from and around Sheffield. I have recently been trying to trace one certain copy which contained a photograph of the Square Circles, when they were voted either most popular group or second most popular group in Sheffield in late 66. If anyone out there has an old Topstar Special, or knows where i can find on, i would be very grateful, i have tried the Star offices, Sheffield Archives, and Tilley's vintage magazines on Shorham Street, but no joy. Thankyou in anticipation. Billy. D
  14. Hi Zeke I believe it was Jerry Scanlon was the one who had the Fender Jazzmaster Bass with Dean Marshall and The Deputies, he's now playing with Phil Broadie Band
  15. Hi Bassman62, Yes, i remember Albert Hitchen, he and my Dad were good friends, they used to book each others acts, which group were you playing with when you worked for my Dad ? As i remember, my Dad managed most of the top groups in Sheffield at one point, including Bittersuite, Johnny Calender & Seventh Heaven, Green Carnation, and Fresh Ground, but to name a few
