Hi Peter, Yes I am like you and wish I could go back for one night they were great times, met some great people and have fond memories of working there. I met my wife at steeleys, she didn't work there just came for the nights out.

Hi Peter, Thanks for letting me know about Alf, it realy is a sad loss he was a good mate and we shared some good times together. I remember Tony Hughes the bar manager and the one who ran the cloakroom but couldn't remember her name, ther was an old guy called Lol who worked in the cloakroom back then. Mr Warren I think he was called was the manager and Mr Asbridge was the assistant manager

Hi Peter, Just remembered Cliff's brother Tony, he was a supervisor too. Yes I new Alf well, used to go out drinking with him and Steve on our nights off but lost touch with them both when I left so I didn't hear what happened to Alf. I can't recall Gina, as there were a lot of bar staff around some didn't stay very long. Steve Renshaw and Sergio were also working there at the same time as me, other names have slipped my mind at the moment but I will try to remember them

Hi Pete, you were a few years after me but you could have remembered me if you went there in '75, I was the one with long hair and a mustash, I used to hang around with Steve Cardwell and Alf. Cliff (can't remember his second name) was the supervisor at that time. were John and Mike the 2 DJ's still there when you worked there?

Hi, I remember it being called Steeleys as I worked there in 1975. I was a bouncer, door supervisors I think they call them now. I loved working there, great night out and getting paid for it too:hihi:

I used to work with a bloke called Keith Robinson in the early 70's, he was from parson cross I think.Ask your mum if Keith is a plumber, if he is you will find him on freinds reunited in the "Sheffield Works Department" section, hope you have luck in finding him

Hi Pat, Just stumbled accross your thread Yes Morris Nailor band was pretty naff. The Dj's, there were two of them Mike and John, Mike being the better of the two. I recall these as I worked there as a bouncer when it was Steeleys in 1975, maybe I was the one who through you out. Ha! Ha! We used to stand at either side of that revolving stage, don't know why as we couln't see a bloody thing for the bright stage lights. I Had a great time working there and wouldn't have missed it for the world.

can't recall her, she's not listed in the programme been trying to find out more about her on the web, but nothing about any tour with Hendrix. I'll keep looking

sorry but a lot of years have passed since then. I think that they must have played their first 3 singles and tracks from Piper at the gates of dawn, but I do remember them playing Inerstellar Overdrive. As for Mason's Inside Out, not got it yet as I am in the middle of reading Joe Cockers Biography. I must write to Santa for it:hihi:

I remember them well as I went to them both, The Who concert was on 28th Sept '67 the line up was The Who Traffic The Herd The Marmalade The Dream The Tremeloes compared by Ray Cameron Hendrix concert was on 17th Nov '67 the line up was Outer Limits Eire Apparent Pink Floyd Move The Nice Amen Corner Hendrix compared by Pete Drummond These were my first 2 Gigs, been to many more since but none can match the Hendrix/Floyd one. By the way I have still got both concert programs and the ticket stubbs

Hi, I used to work on the door back in '75 but cannot remember any roller discos on Sunday nights. I cannot remember the final song being 'aint no mountain high enough' are you talking about the Motown classic? There was a final track that they played and when everyone heard it you knew it was time to leave the dance floor and go home. I cannot remember the name of this track or who recorded it.I've been trying to find out for some time now but whith no luck, if anyone can remember please let me know, It was mainly instrumental but with a few backing vocals

Hi, I was on the door back in 1975 when it was Steeleys. I also met my other half there after telling her off for standing on the chairs. I'll never forget that evening as we often talk about it especialy when our kids ask us how we met. Great days wouldn't have missed it for the world

Hi again, I've just been looking through (best rock gigs at city hall thread) and not only were we at school at the same time but it would seem that we were at the same "Hendrix/Pink Floyd" Gig. It was my first taste of live music and i've been hooked ever since
