    Changing lives in two shakes
  1. Thanks sportaudi. Hubby heard something about a lorry as well but the guy who told him had no idea but thought it might have broken down. Was horrendous for us and we ended up late for a meeting and missed picking up a colleague
  2. Anyone got an idea why all Broomhall was totally gridlocked last night. We live near the top end and it took us an hour to get out of the area to Ecclesall Road Everythign was queued all over - Park Lane was blocked top to bottom, Broomhall Road and Collegiate were all chokka. Was just crazy
  3. Didn't hear the shooting but did know about the helicopter hovering around. Friend called me who used to live near and she's heard about it as well. Said she's been told they were doing house to house enquiries - but nothing on the street, not even a police car.
  4. I know this is an old thread - going back some time (to November 2011) - but we have some slight connections regarding Credlands Paint and Wallpaper shops. I met my husband when we worked for Crown Wallpaper and Paints and he used to deliver to all the Credland shops (hubby worked at Gee's branch on Shoreham Street and I worked at West Bar Crown shop). He recalls several of the shops mentioned in previous notes on this thread. More recently, we have been to an opticians and speaking to the wife of the owner - and she was born as Credland and her sister went to King Ecgbert's same as me though a couple of years above me. If anyone is related to this Credland family, I will put them in touch with her.
  5. We just came from London Road up Hanover and it seems clear from any accident - though backlog of traffic. Seemed to be few blue lights around Premier Inn area though, not sure if that was area of problem. One thing we did notice was that the digital signage said that St Mary's Gate was closed so expect delays - just as we drove onto St Mary's lol
  6. S2 is even worse - theres 194 outages, plus S3 and S10 as well - all around same area
  7. It's also widespread into Exeter/Broomhall estate and up the dual carriageway on town side as well. That's partly S3 (37 outages) and partly S10 (says only 3 outages but likely to be much more). Seems to a rather a major problem
  8. Massive cuts throughout S1 and S2 - seems to be everything from top of Moor up to Heeley!!!
  9. Are these meetings at Fagans or Airy Fairy or is there two separate groups please?
  10. Did this drumming group get off the ground? Might be interested but would depend when it is. I'm assuming you are meaning frame drums such as in shaman/pagan circles and not bongos etc.
  11. Does anyone know if anything is happening at Lynwood Gardens this year (2012)
  12. I've had soooo many of these calls, I always ask 'which computer' - so the start explaining 'your home computer' - I say I haven't got one, then they say you MUST have one - er ... can they see down the phone!!! I try and wind them up denying all knowledge of what they are talking about but often get so exasperated with them I end up telling them to <removed> off and not to phone me again - but they always do!!! A friend of my sister fell for their crap and they charged her about £400 for them to put it right - but then she had to take it somewhere else to have it fixed properly so she had to fork out another £250 as well. Please be aware of these horrible people and their scams.
  13. It was an old post carney720 - but I would suggest you make a start either at Sheffield Local History department housed in the Central Library building or at Sheffield Archives on Shoreham Street (near the BBC Radio Sheffield building).
  14. no, still not open. some family stuck in traffic and got me to check here for them, knew I'd find out here :-)
  15. On holiday a couple of years ago, we got stopped in the street by some young people from Red Cross and they were asking people for bank details too. What happened to standing in the street with collecting tins!!! I recommend NEVER give charities your bank details if they come to your door. If you want to donate to any charity they you should contact them direct and offer whatever you want to.
