  1. Sorry I haven't read all the posts (I'm a lazy forummer, you'll learn that about me), so... For me it comes down to supply and demand. If there are more people wanting to foster/adopt than there are kids needing to be fostered/adopted, then we can be choosy about who we let foster/adopt. Whether or not you smoke seems to me to be a reasonable way of weeding people out. I stopped smoking a while ago, part of my motivation was that one day I'll have kids and I don't want them to see me doing it, or being put at risk. I don't know what the situation is in Sheffield, but I expect that like most major cities demand is greater than supply, so the last thing we need to be doing is weeding people out of a pool which is already woefully small. Personally, I would rather have kids placed in stable and smoke-free environments, but if it comes to a choice I'll take stability over smoke-free everytime.
  2. Does my bum look big in this?
  3. Thank you all for your replies, we've seen them in Wedding shops and florists but they're so damn expensive, so we're trying to put it together ourselves (saving my fiancee's family a bit of money )
  4. Hello, I need help. Google was rubbish so I thought I'd try here. Does anyone know where I can find huge Martini Glasses that we could use as table centres? The ones my fiancee has seen are about 2ft tall with huge bowls (I said BOWLS). Thanks in advance for all your helpful hints. Sean
  5. Got my letter on Friday - all I need to do now is prove I'm not gonna drop dead at my desk. And as you would expect, now I've had an offer the agencies have woken up again asking me about my availability. Where were all the jobs six months ago?!?!?!?
  6. The one at Meadowhead - is it the Norton? At lunch time when I was at college. Went back hammered
  7. Get In! After many months and plenty of self doubt, I got a call offering me a job in Newcastle so I can move in with my girlfriend. Granted I'm gonna be worrying till I get it in writing but I thought I'd share my news. I've been giddy all day
  8. I sympathise totally with what you say but perhaps the mindset you're in at the moment (that it's all a waste of time) is affecting your performance in interviews? It's easier said than done but the attitude you need to take with you in an interview is one of optimism/confidence bordering on arrogance. If you feel negative going in to an interview - even if it's an almost subconcious feeling - then that is going to come across to the interviewers and they will start questioning whether you're actually up to the job. It sounds terribly arrogant but you have to be in the frame of mind that it doesn't matter who else they interview, the job is yours because you're by far and away the best candidate. If you feel confident going in to the interview your answers will flow better, you'll be more relaxed which will put the panel at ease and you're more likely to be successful. It's not a guaranteed method of success (because after all the other candidates are probably thinking the self same thing) but it's better than feeling like it's a waste of time because that will come across no matter how hard you try.
  9. I'm gonna show this to my GF - I've been trying to tell her exactly this for ages and now there's women saying it on the forum! Oh Happy Day
