  1. Live just behind Attercliffe Road and didn't hear a thing other then cat waking me at 6.30.
  2. HS2 line will be at bottom on the existing line won't it? Which is other side of river, should be ok i'd think. Agree with you about getting more for your money in Catcliffe. Sadly, even houses that didn't flood with be tarred with same brush as people will worry.
  3. Surely digging into records and local bylaws will only end up finding a law that allows swimming? Prob some ancient bylaw that allowed public bathing or something?
  4. They stopped doing this now due to a certain angry gentleman who got upset with people disturbing him when they would meet at the gate. They now park other side of the road where the new buildings are. A nice gesture i feel seeing as it is a public road with no parking restrictions. Getting stranger still down there. A "nice" chain with sharp bits on has appeared on top gate. Prob unrelated to the swimmers but if anyone is going down there with children be careful the don't go running and ripping any eye balls out...
  5. Ringing police for parking? Sorry but the swimming issue aside, it that really worth ringing the police?
  6. So decided to go down to Dyke last week and see what the group was like. I'll be honest, what i found shocked me and was not what i was expecting at all. Met an absolutely fantastic bunch of people. A couple from local area, some from a lot further away. One lovely lady was visiting from Scotland. Whilst I wasn't keen on getting into the cold, I did sample the many cakes they had to share. They seem a great bunch and from our conversations, seem to genuinely want to work with people to find a solution that makes everyone happy. They even do not park on the small road leading to the dyke so as not to upset locals. A nice gesture as I think only one house has a bay market off as private. Must say i wish them all best of luck in what i suspect will be a long battle for them. Would be a shame if they were banned as they appeared a great bunch and had a lot of respect for the Dyke, make sure they did not leave any mess or damage. Something I wish the motorbikes would consider as they seem to make a mess in the woods. Took one nice picture, think either from same chap who put last one up or the farmer who's field it may be: Sadly it seems not all like this group, as i found out that during last nights swim, someone again rang the police. Couple of CSO's were sent who said it was not a matter for them. Shame police and cso's time is being wasted on something like this...
  7. Was passed this photo by a friend swims with one of these groups (can't remember which). Very odd to say the least, not sure weather it's saying no swimming and smoking. Maybe it means no caber tossing? Whilst I doubt this is an "official" sign, I do wonder if any laws are being broken putting misleading signs up?
  8. From my contact with the Treeton Swimmers (seem to be an offshoot of the Dove Dippers) , they said they have been regularly swimming on a Wednesday evening since April without any response from council. They have said they have had issues with parking and have told their group to not park near the houses. They have also said they have actively avoided the boats (when there, they claim to have only seen a boat once) for obvious reasons. The Treeton swimmers seem to be a group of decent individuals wanting to work to sort the issues. I can understand point raised in the post about safety and fairness if others are paying, but seems a heavy handed response. Surely they should put up a sign saying if you swim and get hurt then its your own fault. Surely if people are swimming and there is a lot more fish, it shows the water is very clean and safe? If the Treeton Swimmers & Dove Dippers have indeed be swimming on a weekday evening, what trouble are they causing. Would have thought wednesday evenings would be quiet boating and fishing times? As for this issue of residents complaining about parking, isn't this an old issue?
  9. Bit of a quiet thread but thought i'd post. Had a look around at what they had built when i was passing this weekend. Some nice houses on there. My partner has certainly fell in love so I expect to be living there in the near future. Great location for some nice walks around treeton dyke, not sure how far they are planning on building to. Wouldn't want to be to close to river in light of the flooding Catcliffe suffered couple year back.
  10. Afternoon all, Been driving on Sheffield roads for past five years using a couple different cars. Never wrecked or damaged any go over potholes, either i'm lucky or have yet to hit a really bad one. Whilst i agree a lot need filling, how much of the damage is down to drivers speeding across them or failing to perform regular maintenance on their cars? Seem's a lot of people these days expect their cars to just work without lifting a finger. How many of these damaged cars have had an odd rattling noise in weeks/months leading up to hitting a pothole? just my ramblings....
  11. Not sure much fly tipping in my area. But if they don't come empty my blue bin soon it could get messy...
  12. Afternoon one and all, Was biking down at Dyke this weekend when i came across some signs I had not seen before. True I've not been down for some time so maybe it's already come up on here. Anyhow, the sign i saw "Swimming in this lake is illegal". Didn't look to official so possibly it's only just gone up and the weather has made it look old. Wasn't aware it had (or always had been) illegal to swim in dyke. Got fond memories growing up playing in the water in the summer months and was where i first learnt to swim. Maybe it's just there to scare people off from being silly and messing in the winter months, not sure. Just seems odd after years of seeing people swim there that a sign has just gone up. Interested to hear from anyone who can shed light on this or can share memories of swimming there themselves. Torr3x
  13. hello, Needing some help, just replaced new pads and brake shoes on my 206. I have blead them, pedal is hard, but when engine is running the pedal is very spongey. Any suggestions? Torr3x.
  14. just checking pics again and have his name as well. Going to goto station and inform them and look at getting camera footage. i'll then submit that to council.
  15. what i want is some sort of punishment against this driver. had i been the once who hit him i would no doubt be facing a compo claim against him. when he hit me i wasnt moving, traffic wasnt moving so there was no need for the taxi driver to be even thinking of moving. he is clealy unable to operate a taxi safely and if it wasnt for another driver getting out of his car i would have been on my own facing the taxi driver and two other taxi drivers. im sick of these people going about thinking they can do whatever they want and get away with it.
