  1. There's a summer programme for Hallam uni with a local college in Malaysia popular with Malaysian students of Chinese ethnicity so matsalleh's right. The students treat it like a semester of study and travel, so they get the 'going abroad' experience for a few months without needing to pay an entire year's tuition. The university also get to fill its classes and student flats which would've been empty otherwise. I think a lot of Taiwanese/Chinese students come the summer before they start a full on 3 year course for an English language immersion though - most of them would be proficient in reading and writing, but not have the speaking/listening skills as they've not had the chance to practice their English at home.
  2. I absolutely agree. Try their BBQ pork! Lunchtime special for £5.80, you get a really good-sized meal, and beverage thrown in.
  3. Agree! It's just like meeting people from any other place, no? As long as you get on, love each other..then you have to work at it like every single relationship that lasted.
  4. I'd love to learn to be honest, I can only speak Cantonese (and even that, not very well), but moved to York 7 months ago. Good luck with your search, you could maybe try uni forums as well, I remember there's a lot of tandem learning offers going on when I was there. By the way, don't take the 'cao ni ma' too hard, he's being a 'ben dan'
  5. Met my boyfriend on Facebook - he went to Hallam, I went to Sheffield Uni. We're still together..nearly 2 years on
  6. whitepetal, don't take that to heart..just someone being a smart arse..
  7. And yet you reply to every response! How interesting! Maybe some of us don't think aggresive sales is the only way to make a decent living, and maybe you should think before you slate off people as 'shelf stackers' because they're not convinced about the wonders of this company that did you so much good, on the backs of workers that worked hard for a pittance while you roll in the gains.
  8. Seeing as this person joined today, to especially write this reply, he must've gained loads from Cobra...perhaps in recruiting people? A couple of my old housemates went for interviews - it was essentially unpaid work doing door-to-door sales and you get a (very small) commission for each sales. Shoving unwanted 'offers' down vulnerable people at home wasn't exactly what was in my housemates' minds so they did not return. Stay away.
  9. Aye the money would sure be good to be used on education for some people on here...atrocious language!
  10. Thai Punna is a restaurant....and not Korean at that. Gochujang is available in Tai Sun off Matilda St, and also in the big Oriental supermarket near The Forge on London Road.
  11. Some places in Division Street may be good. Bar Olive? Cafe rouge? Or any restaurant within Leopald Sq will be reasonably good.
  12. Once bought pig chaps...it's still had teeth and tongue attached...not the best experience trying to butcher it. I think my boyfriend's still traumatised.
  13. Love Pho 68 because its just not your typical chinese, amazing authentic southeast asian cooking made with real stock and good ingredients, not gloopy or greasy or cheap like some places (Candytown) could be. Our regular favs are BBQ pork vermicelli and duck and preserved veg noodles, it's amazing.
  14. I don't think most significant others, married or not, appreciate the 'not limited to just sex with one' option. That being said, a 'marriage license' is no hindrance to unlimited sex *cough Tiger Woods cough* either.
