  1. My cousins both went to Silverdale in the early 80s, owing to the fact that my uncle was the caretaker.
  2. I left Sheffield in 89, aged 19 to go work in London, stayedthere, in many various and some solubrious addresses, till 2000, spent 2 years in Hemel Hempstead, the arsehole of the UK, 6 months or so in Croydon/London then a year in Manchester. From there it was 2 years and 2 months in Hong Kong and now am in Beirut.
  3. BTW, apparently I AM *THE* Sean Piggott, I always thought so, though my uncle Sean may disagree!
  4. We used to go blackberrying down the side of the old village school and post office, we'd start there and go all the way over to Mosborough, as my Grandad lives there. This was in the early 80s, though Grandad still lives there, behind the pub, the Oak is it? As re the Old Shop it was linked to the Wyers as I went to school, Carter Lodge 81-86, with Andrew Wyer, his nephew.
  5. Well I know my Piggotts are from Ireland, though they went there from England centuries ago, originally French, with the name Picot. From that name you get every derivative including c's g's and t's, 2 g's 2 t's, 1 c 2 t's etc
  6. Hi Tazz070299, my Grandparents the Piggotts, lived at 21 Delves Drive and as far as I know there hasnt ever been a Derek Piggot, least not one I knew about. Hagardrider, you mean lowedges? Yeah they moved out of there about 4 years ago now, when the school sold land, hmm, seems to be a theme here! get in touch.
  7. 'Courtyard'? Well they must be doing a lot more than 'pruning'. My Dad and Uncle were both Caretakers from the 70s to the 80s and I had a few visits to the education services offices in Leopold Street. The only 'courtyard' I can imagine being referrred to is a completely surrounded, none too big bog standard school yard, with little light and less access.
  8. My grandparents, Lil and John the Piggotts, lived on Delves Drive since the mid 60's, we (dad, mum and brothers) moved back in the early 80s after living in Rotherham and then Park Hill. As I said earlier an Uncle still lives in my grandparents old house.
  9. David 12656, Yes Liam is my Uncle, he's now living in America, I should send him the link to this place. Tazz, no not linked to Woodcraft. Only in that they held it at Rainbow Forge, where my Dad was caretaker of the school, in the 80s, but he didnt have anything to do with the meetings.
  10. I was in the first 2 years YTS year(s), 86 to 88 at Debenhams on the Moor. We didnt get paid very much but the training was good and most of the staff, specially some of the managers at the time were nice and very experienced.
  11. Well we lived there from 1980 till 1987, my dad, Vin, was the caretaker at Rainbow Forge on Birley Spa Lane. My Grandparents, Piggotts, lived on Delves Drive, behind the bus terminus, and my youngest uncle still does, as far as I'm aware. Grandad John Piggott also did a few years on the door of the club. One of my aunts lived up near the 'top-shops' and the club, Carter Knowle (?), her inlaws, the Wiles, lived opposite us on Birley Spa Lane. My Nan had a cousin and his wife, the Mckevoys, who also lived in Hackenthorpe. I went to Rainbow Forge and then Carter Lodge, that both schools now dont exist is a bit unnerving.
  12. After 2.5 years in Hong Kong, I am now in Beirut, Lebanon. Listening to Radio 2 each day thanks to t'internet. cheers
  13. Park Hill Middle School - Mrs Moore sticks in my mind along with Mr Sharpe, the headmaster as being good teachers. John Anderson sticks in my mind as being a friend of my parents. Rainbow Forge Infant school - Dennis Buck and Laurie Atkinson were good guys. Carter Lodge - To echo previous posts, Carol Jones was good, Mr Fisher - VERY 'old-school' but bloody good. Mr Stapely instilled in me a life long interest in History but Ute Elliot's classes, primarily German, had a profound effect on me the woman is a star.
