  1. Yes the plan was for it to be refurbished but now everybody is being made redundant. I actually think Frasers will reopen at some point in the future in Meadowhall, but with none of the current staff involved. They have too many staff that are still there from 10/20/30 years ago which is expensive for Mike Ashley when they are on the old contracts from House Of Fraser, he likes part timers on his own terms. It was always going to happen, the ones who had an ounce of foresight saw the ship sinking, the ones who didn't are still there.
  2. We're not in the 1980s anymore. Hooligan fans back then were met with hooligan policing and probably rightly so. The cops and robbers as it were...gave as good as they got. We shouldn't be seeing this in 2020 though I think we can all agree on that, police shouldn't be hitting kids in the face for no good reason.
  3. Get the unemployed doing it and they'll be dipping their hands in the takings
  4. It's reopened now under the same name with a different owner. The same kind of barber someone previously mentioned, open until the wee hours. Actually I've been for the first time since it got taken over and it's good, the only problem is it's always really busy you'd do well to get in an out in under an hour and that's at quiet times. I am surprised that the old owner wasn't making money (if true) as he always had punters in. Maybe he would have been better off selling the other half of the shop, it was a bit big and I don't think the new one uses the other end.
  5. This tram train has been nothing but an absolute shambles from the very beginning.
  6. https://maps.app.goo.gl/F5kTH Was that the building on the right? Behind the old coroner's court? I live on the Wicker and these stories are fascinating to me
  7. I live on Wicker and wondering if anyone knows what it used to be used as? It's a pretty unique looking building and I assume it wasn't built for it's current purpose. https://maps.app.goo.gl/J1aXw Actually if you have any info about previous uses of buildings currently on Stanley Street I'd be happy to hear it.
  8. It's not Wicker or Tesco I just went by it but the smell is strong and smoke is billowing from somewhere around there
  9. Thanks just bought the full documentary from Amazon, looks like we might have a bit of a Flood tonight if the rain keeps up.
  10. Tonight is the anniversary of The Great Sheffield Flood between the 11/03/1864 and 12/03/1864 in which at least 240 Sheffielders died. I was walking along the river Don across from Nursery Street and noticed a bunch of flowers next to the stone memorial. I just want to thank whoever left that beautiful bunch of flowers, because it encouraged me read the memorial and spend some time by the river reflecting on the events of the awful night. So thanks to whoever did that.
  11. If you can't be bothered to take a bag shopping they charge you to buy one. You don't have to buy one.
  12. Genuine question. By black barbers I mean the kind of barbers like on the Wicker where all the pictures in the window are of black guys, the barber is a black guy, the customers are black...can they cut white guy hair? Is black/white hair different to cut? It's inevitable that somebody will be offended by this question but I'd like to know because these barbers open late and that would be convenient for me
