  1. She was the mad hatter with her tea party cohorts, out of control and non of her party members had enough balls to reel her in. There was no analysing of a situation or a structured way of reaching a resolution...straight to the sledgehammer to crack the walnut...iron lady like its a compliment!, wisdom would have been a better virtue. We can no longer compete internationally because she smashed any and all major industry, because she didn't have the vision or skill to swing allegiance (of unions or people) or promote or nurture before going on the defensive, not to mention changing future generations views on the moral/ethical stance of our police force by using them as her own personal boot boys. Simpletons governance...lets not fix it, lets get rid of it. She was perfect for her time, when government was about flexing muscle and displaying power over its citizens rather than promoting the nation in a global sense.
  2. In the 80s when i left school, I did two schemes. Job share: 12 months of half a weeks work for half a weeks wage, a choice of job types with proper practical experiance, cynically viewed as a good way to reduce the unemployment figures as we were only "half unemployed". Restart: 12 mnth job placement on benefit, choice of placement (you provided a list of places you wanted to work and they did there best to place you) proper on the job experience in a chosen line of work. The Restart scheme led to my employment an I have worked ever since. The recent economic situation is beginning to make my current job look unsteady and I have to say, if I do end up on benefits i doubt the scheme in place will do much to get me quickly back into employment, or provide any pertinent training.... If it would be to teach me the "work ethic" then I think I'm already ok in that respect, so yes...it stinks.
  3. Car drivers are right....we cyclists shouldn't be on the road. We have to understand that many of these Idiot car drivers going around in there own little private bubble world don't even notice, or care about other car drivers, let alone cyclists or pedestrians. Look how they treat each other when it comes to lane changes! God help you if you don't know the area, they won't show enough courtesy to let you move over..even if you do indicate, and that's if they even notice what your trying to do! Why would any right minded cyclist want to be on the road. Don't expect any common sense or courtesy from most. Expect intensionally rude and selfish behaviour from some. Be appreciative when you get good driving from the few (chances are these types use more than one mode of transport). I drive a car, ride a bicycle and a motorbike and am mostly disappointed by the behaviour of car drivers when I'm on either. And yes, some people on bicycles can be idiots, but remember any member of the public can jump on a bicycle....that dosn't necessarily mean they are a cyclist (a chav on stolen mtb going to the shop for rizzlas dosn't count for example).
  4. I used to joke that it was easier each time i stopped. Ive bin stopped for two and a half years now after loads of failed atempts and still occasionally think about it (usually if im passed by somebody with one on the go) but i just shove it to the back of my mind and think of all the money im saving (not so much the health aspect because as i stopped other unconnected problems came about!) Give it another go, the reason you started again is gone now right? COME ON GEEZER!! were all bigger than bin slaves to the baccy companies right.
  5. Self worth and insecurity issues? Promoting themselves to feel more involved (but overdoing it a bit) could be a reason. Trouble is it becomes a hard habit to break and ends up bieng counter productive. Most people will have met someone a bit like this. Its maybe best to try and work round it and remember...if you dont know everything about someone, you wont know why they behave as they do.
  6. Get a huge bird of prey!....Semi domesticate it to the extent where you can have as much or as little responsibility for it as you see fit. Let it do its own thing around the area, terrorising other peoples pets and decimating the local wildlife and tell people.."its just what they do", its best to follow this up with the phrase "get over it". It may keep the cats away but wont make you popular with your nieghbours. Cat owners will allways say "yawn, bin done to death, zzzzz, bla bla" And you will defend your right to a nice garden to mooch around in. All you can really do is take as many humane steps to ensure that the offending pests are swayed into doing what they do in there owners back gardens....It wont be a problem for them as its "no big deal" and they will probably thank you for it.
  7. No I just say "you voted for them, it's your problem" (this applies to any outcome)
  8. I walk further than the poling station to buy a loaf of bread. If you think i dont vote because I'm idle I'll out run you, out climb you, and out do you in any form of physical activity. I don't vote because i don't have faith in any current form of local or national government. Give me a voting slip with a "no confidence in any candidate" and I'll sign it whilst on my way to buy my loaf of bread. I've voted with my feet by not going to a polling station...I'd vote with my feet even more by leaving the country but I'm too heavily taxed by this and previous governments to have the savings to do so. Voting for the least repugnant option is worse than a wasted vote.
  9. Give it a go, if it's not gone down hill in the last few years then it should be ok. We will be trying it again when our latest is a bit older.
  10. Mmm, mmm yes, I take on board your observations and conclude.....youre off your trolly you numpt.....this forum just gets weirder, I resign.
  11. It's what cats do.....it's in there nature, try to get it to spray up someone elses property and your problem is solved ;-)
  12. It sure has, and as every cat owner will contest....only the sunshine comes out of a cats bottom.
  13. Out of all the royals, I think she's the one who does as royalty is expected...so I guess it would be a bit sad. Old fashioned I know....and I suppose more grief would be given to a reality tv celebs demise these days!
  14. Well if you find out who these Kids are, don't confront the parents....they probably fence the goods!!
