  1. You're never going to see a panda car chasing a motorbike, if the bike crashes the police get the blame and the police driver goes to court, risks losing their licence, dangerous driving death by danger out driving etc. Their policy will be to never chase them. Not much they can do really, even if they follow it the bike will soon speed off out of their sight. There isn't really a safe way of stopping a motorbike, so the police car was right to not go after it.
  2. Close enough to my house so I could walk to it, but I don't want to be able to see it from my house, obviously. So close to my back yard, but Not In My Back Yard!!
  3. Never mind giving Rotherham an additional tram stop, lets get the tram to Meadowhead instead! Vote WarPig for Mayor and it will happen.
  4. There are lots of accidents just after/before the roundabout on Greenhill Main Road where it junctions with Greenhill Ave. Traffic coming off the roundabout onto Greenhill Main Road have two lanes, the left one for going straight on and the right lane for turning right onto Gereenhill Ave. At this junction is also a pedestrian crossing. The problem occurs when a car wanting to turn right sees that the traffic lights for the cars to their left who are going straight on, have turned to red. They wrongly assume that the oncoming lane (with traffic coming from Greenhill to the roundabout) is also on a red light and oncoming cars will stop so they can turn right. However they are actually on a green light so wont be stopping. The reason for this is there are actually two separate crossings here, with a paved area in the middle of the road where the pedestrian has to then press the button to continue crossing. Each set of traffic light operates independently, with the pedestrian crossing one lane tan stepping onto the central pavement, and then having to press the button to cross the next lane. So a car turning right sees their carriageway has a red light and thinks it's safe to move forward and make the turn, not realising that oncoming traffic is on a green light. So they set off and are hit by oncoming traffic. I saw it happen the other day with a skip waggon hitting a car turning right across him. I stopped and informed the skip driver of the problem, and so helping him with his insurance claim.
  5. Though the left hand lane is for turning left only, so doesn't go onto the roundabout. But occasionally someone in that lane wants to go straight on instead of turning left, and don't always realise they are in the wrong lane.
  6. The downside to a small independent opticians is they tend to be small stores with less choice of frames. Though the Martin Kemp on Herries road looks a decent size store.
  7. Anyone able to recommend a good opticians in Sheffield, one with staff that know how to measure for glasses, offer correct fit and give good advice please? I want to get some varifocals which wont be cheap so I want to buy from somewhere with staff that know there subject.
  8. Rotherham, Doncaster & Barnsley councils all have these city centre orders in place allowing police to deal with beggars, which is why you don't see as many there, and is also why they all come to Sheffield as our council refuse to implement the same order as it infringes the beggars liberties.
  9. I didn't;t know this was possible. I'll have a search for it, is it on the First app maybe?
  10. Yes, when it's raining hard (no bus shelter at my bus stop) and I see the bus going in the other direction towards the terminus, I'm tempted to jump on it. Otherwise a wait of maybe 5-10 mins in the rain. I don't travel often enough to have a multi pass ticket so just pay individual fares.
  11. Thanks, so getting on just one stop prior to the terminus might incur two fares. I guess it depends on the drivers discretion?
  12. A question to any bus drivers on here.. If getting on a bus just a few stops prior to the terminus, but wanting to continue onwards on that busses journey, do fares reset at the terminus and you have to pay again? Or when getting on the bus would the driver charge you the fare to the terminus plus the fare to your destination? When stood at the bus stop near my house to go into city centre, I often see my bus going past me in the other direction towards the terminus, then 5 mins later it comes back to my stop and then into town. If I crossed the road and got on it whilst it's on its way to the terminus would I have to pay extra fare to get into town? Would this be classed as two journeys?
  13. Well the Norton pub will do well out of this. Shame it's a crap pub.
  14. Lots of them are vermin in my opinion, I speak with first hand experience. I know a few of them would make over £100 whilst begging on a Saturday night outside Tesco on West Street, all of them lived around the corner on Victoria Street and received full benefits. When engaging with them they held the public with contempt despite receiving cash from them, regarding them as gullible. But yeh, they are homeless and we should feel sorry for them...blah blah blah...
