  1. its still the same family run buisness. its just owned by Dan. ---------- Post added 30-04-2015 at 11:36 ---------- I have just found this article in the Star with a picture of Dan. I think this show could be really interesting and entertaining! see the link below. http://www.thestar.co.uk/news/sheffield-shop-is-pawn-star-in-new-television-show-1-7236653
  2. Heard a few rumours that there has been some filming for a new channel 4 programme about Pawnbroking in Sheffield. I turned on the TV today and have seen an advert for a programme called Posh Pawnbrokers, it appears to be a spin off of the popular show Posh Pawn. I don't normally watch shows like this but it appears really light hearted and fun plus it's about Sheffield so I am definitely watching it. Below is the link explaining the show. It will definitely make a nice change from the usual drivel that is on daytime tv and I can't stand Tipping Point. It appears to put Sheffield in a positive light so lets get behind it and record/ watch it. It starts May 4th at 4pm on channel 4 and 4seven at 6pm. http://www.channel4.com/info/press/programme-information/posh-pawnbrokers-programme-information
  3. Hi to all veggies, i know this isn't answering your question but i just wanted to let people know my recent discovery. now i know these aren't exactly a culinary delight and not to everyones taste but do be careful if you eat Pot Noodles. i have recently discovered that the golden wonder pot noodle ( always been vegetarian ) was taken over and now there are 2 products on the go, one with the name ( Pot Noodle ) and one with the trademark name ( Golden Wonder ). as daft as it may be i didn't know this and ate the golden wonder one which contains chicken powder !!!! the packaging is very similar but to keep the story short and sweet the safe one to eat is the white pot with green label saying only Pot Noodle. DO NOT EAT GOLDEN WONDER NATIONS NOODLE..... NOT VEGETARIAN. ps. aubergines and halloumi cheese, mushrooms and lots of garlic are great veggie basics to cook with
  4. hi, i'm wanting to go to a barn dance / ceilidh for my birthday with friends in May sometime. please could anyone recommend one in sheffield, preferably one that also serves alcohol as will need a couple to get started thanks......
  5. i've been twice. good few years back though. first time i only got round the corner of the entrance and had to come out i was that scared. second time, a couple of years later, i tried again and literally ran round with my friend as was scared again ! i am a real big fat scardy cat though !!!!! ha ha. wont even go on a ghost train still.
  6. no i don't like tofu either.... strange feel and very bland unless strongly marinated. linda mccartney sausages.. excellent ! and double bonus as my meat eating partner adores them ! i put them in a stew along with quorn sausages ( not as tasty on own compared with linda's but good in a stew ) and also put in some vegi hotdogs...... very very tasty and so like the real thing. tesco's do them and i really rate them. and all my meaty friends love my soya mince fajitas and chilli... better than meat they say : )
  7. hi, i'm wanting to make my cellar into a useable work room and my mum said something about tanking ? basically it's quite dry and consists of 2 little adjoining rooms with a stone floor. what needs doing to make it convenient to work in and to make it warm, and will it be hugely expensive ? advice appreciated...... thanks...
  8. i do sympathise with you. i have a neighbour too with annoying barking dogs. at first they only had 1 and that was fine but now they hav another one and that sets the 1st one off. soon as i put my key in the lock to go out the door they start. and as i have to walk past them they scare the life out me as they charge up to the gate. they even bark at 5 and 6 in the morning sometimes which is annoying. but on a good note they are getting better so hopefully if you can grit your teeth for a while you may see some progress.
  9. yes i'm doing it.. and i've not run for 20years !! HELP !! been promising my dad, who's an ace runner, i'd join him in a race one day.. after reminiscing my bygone races when he did it last year. so i'm trying really hard to train and to ditch cake in front of the tv for a good run....
  10. i was looking in Atkinsons on the Moor sheffield the other day as also looking for curtains to cover large bay window, and they're not badly priced either. very frustrating chore i may add also...
  11. mmmmm... all my friends think i'm weird if order tomato juice in pub. but agree with saffy that worcester sauce is the best friend of the stuff.... about 10 good splashes with a little ice. tried the big tom, but not so keen on the tabasco. and any juice will do really if doing at home.. all tastes same once added worcester
