  1. Hi. I was driving past the Birley Hotel Frecheville yesterday Sat. 11th and there was a lot going off I did see it was named Mattfest 2015. I have heard of this before, I know it was originally to try and get justice for Mathew Cryer who was killed while on holiday in Spain. It was in the Star newspaper earlier this week that the case can't go any further so is now closed. I wonder where all the money raised now goes, I have heard something about going to charities and that it was run in a few pubs in Sheffield. I have never seen it published how much money has been raised at these events and to which charities it goes too so I wondered can anyone inform us about this. Many thanks.
  2. I can't believe that this scheme is being considered let alone being allowed to happen. After the cost of the student games catastrophe which we are all still paying for, and will do until we all die, that the council are being allowed to let a thing like this to go ahead yet again. When will someone on the city council bring some reality back to Sheffield. OH DEAR.
  3. Hi. About 15-16 of us have been going at least one night for the past few years and had a really great night out. We have taken beer, sandwiches and cakes each time, for a laugh about 3years ago one of us took a candelabra and put it in the centre of the fold up table. We got there and back by mini bus and as I said had a really good night. I'm afraid this year we are giving it a miss, with everything in with the new prices they charging it was going to cost a couple about £100 and it just isn't worth it, so if a lot more give it a miss maybe prices will coma back to normality, it isn't as if there are any big names coming. We will look again at the prices for next year.
  4. I consider this a bit of a cheek, it looks like you got someone (a mate or cowboy) to do your rewire on the cheap then ask an approved contractor to supply certificate. If I was still contracting I would certainly tell you where to ---- off.
  5. Hi. I would try a Charity Shop. The one at Crystal Peaks close to Wilkinson's have some really good furniture at times, certainly worth trying before you pay the fancy prices charged by these large stores.
  6. It's always been handy for the notices at the back, I'll miss it for that.
  7. Hi. Anyone know if there is a local coach company that goes to Notting Hill Carnival, we just fancy going next year. Thanks.
  8. Once again it's in tonight's Star that there is 13m unpaid in Sheffield Council Tax. I beg of them how can this happen, I'm sure that a lot of them will be council houses so that's got to be a start and surely they can kick these people out, I know it's not so easy because the next thing is they will want sheltered housing. I understand it is a problem but how can it be allowed to get into this state, after non payment for 12 months a court order should be issued. Why should we pay ours council tax if they can get away with not paying there's.
  9. Firstly I am not talking about about leaving Crystal Peaks, I mean people getting there from Frecheville, Birley and the top end of Hackenthorpe. Secondly if you read it again I said one, either First or Stagecoach to go the way they go now, bottom of Duke Street, rail station and bus station, then carry on past The Cathedral and on its way. The other one, again either First or Stagecoach to go down Granville Road, Queens Road, The Market and on Arundel Street, until it gets to the end and then up past The Cathedral the same way as the other bus and carry on as it goes now. It seems so simple to me. ---------- Post added 17-06-2014 at 18:32 ---------- No they're not. Even if they were it would hardly be the fault of one bus route not being changed to serve Moorfoot. My idea of changing is two fold, not just for the market traders but for customers also to enable them to get there without a lot of messing about, after all it looks like The Moor is going to be the place of the future to shop but if you can't get there without a lot of messing about you might as well stay at Crystal Peaks. I cannot understand the problems this change would make.
  10. No I know all that but this bus covers all Frecheville, Hackenthorpe, Birley and quite a few more areas just outside the city.
  11. Hi. I cannot understand the people who make the route for the Sheffield buses. My moan is about the 120 route. All the market traders in the new market are complaining and leaving because of lack of custom. To my thinking the 120 from Crystal Peaks could split there is one service provided from First and the other from Stagecoach. Would it not make sense for one to go down Granville Road and past the new market and the other continue down the route they go now, then meet up at the old T J Hughes store. Then at the other end (Crystal Peaks) couldn't one go down the route it goes now and the other past the new Asda store and again meet up at Crystal Peaks. Surely I'm not the only one to think of this, it is quite clear the planners haven't. I just hope they read this.
  12. Hi, Surely the DVLA have a record of who owns this car, that is of course if it has ever been taxed, but with the seriousness of what this person has done maybe he doesn't go in for that kind of thing.
  13. It belongs to the Sizzling pub group same as The Birley at Frecheville. As soon as they started painting that white I wrote to the owners telling them what a mess it looked because it had good brickwork and all it needed was blasting and it would stand out and look well. Worked stopped very soon after for a few weeks and I thought I had won, but no they started up again as I say a few weeks later. Once its painted white its a big,big job to get back to brickwork.
  14. If all of this doe's happen I wonder if it counts for all the thousands of immigrants in Sheffield? I don't think so.
