  1. I am looking at having my windows tinted on my car, but am a complete novice in the area of pricing! Have been quoted £120 for 3 rear windows of my 307, does anyone with knowledge know if this is reasonable? Also any tips or things to look out for would be greatly appreciated!! Thanks.
  2. Last night at 1.30am I was woken by a faint banging noise, and as I got up and dressed to see what it was, I saw two lads, 16/17 ish walking off down my road. On inspection this morning my lead flashing is half ripped off, so the little you know whats failed, but it is very concerning. This is in Oughtibridge, so people in surrounding areas keep your eyes peeled. It probably won't help, but the lads were pretty tall, in black hoodies and tracksuit bottoms. I know its what every mindless chav wears but be aware in the night.
  3. I was referring to the the emoticon that suggests I was being thick. I'm clearly not trying to wind anyone up or be offensive with this topic, I don't see how I warrented that sort of a reply. Not really worth bringing back up really, the thread had moved back on to the point and you have dragged it off topic again. Please don't make this into something bigger than it is Mafya
  4. Thanks Pearl, Hadron, and Danny, much appreciate your help. We are having a camera system insatlled whcih records to your internet account, that way there is not video or hard drive that cant be damged, anything recorded is immediately afe and available to see, Even means you can log in and view whats on the camera! Also have an alarm which is connected to the phone, and if it goes off calls 4 numbers (in the family) and whichever answers first gives them an automated message to tell them the alarm has been set off. Cool eh?! These measures of course help, but the vandalism is something very difficult to control, it is simply impossible to stop a mindless chav bricking your window if his 3 brain cells club together and decide they think it will be fun. Cheers, Jon
  5. Thanks Frank Sidney, seems I'm not the only one who thinks 'Allen' is an unhelpful ignorant tosser.
  6. thanks neek, we did install an alarm after the break in, and yes we realise this was reactive and not pro active, but sometimes it takes that type of thing to wake you up and spur you into action. Security lights are also going on, and yes our hedge is very low so that isnt a problem. Much appreciate your feedback
  7. In Firth Park over Xmas and New Year there were a number of burglary's on where we live, including our own house, and recently we have had two of our windows vandalised and it is very costly and frightening indeed. We have filed police reports but we know as well as they do its barely worth it, and they can't do anything about it. I was hoping that someone who had experience of these sorts of issues could offer some advice as this is a new and horrible experience for us. We are aged 88 and 83, and have lived here nearly 50 years and these are the first times that we are fearful in our own home. Many thanks, (composed by grandson on his account)
  8. I think the legalities surrounding taxi licensing and insurance for business use make it a dodgy legal area and a lot of hassle for what it is. Would be a great service though!
  9. In my experience you should avoid Date Entry jobs like the plague! There's a reason they sound so convenient, and there's a reason that not everyone is doing it!
  10. The Old Horns at Bradfield now has a comments page, so any fans of the fantastic food and views should let them know! We had a fantastic meal their last night, and people in the city should venture out here, it would rival anything town has to offer! http://www.theoldhorns.co.uk
  11. I'm from Oughtibridge too, and we go up to the Old Horns in Bradfield, its superb!!
  12. Out in the countryside is The Old Horns in Bradfield. Food is really good, we go quite often! Has stunning views too, http://www.theoldhorns.co.uk
  13. Thanks people, now there is whole new dilemma on the cards, I assumed going for a new one was the best option?! I have seen the volvo c30 at 20k, with deposit of 5k and payments of £358 totalling 23k after 4 years. They also say at least a value of £6500 at the end of the finance. (roughly speaking) No good?
  14. Thanks guys, lots of sound advice there! I think I'll leave it as it is reading the responses, its only done 50,000 and i'm almost at the point where I have enough saved up to look at buying my first new car! (I'm only 20 before you all laugh!) Maybe in the future I will do an older car up as a hobby and for pleasure, but until then I think it is more sensible to use the expense as my deposit on a new one. Cheers again, Jon
  15. So all in all, very off topic french car digs and no advice (other than sarcasm) given? Great! Any serious answers (yes i realise this invites even more french car jokes) would be welcomed. Any help Mods?
