  1. It is actually just on the footpath, so not actually on my land, but it does prevent me using my land for it's designed purpose, i.e. getting a car on it. Could get small car on, just, but not a normal mid-size car. Granted, I did know it was there when I bought the house, I just never imagined that BT would put up a fight over something that is a blatent error on their part.
  2. I bought a house 2 years ago, complete with a telegraph pole partially blocking my drive. I don't understand why the daft owners at the time acccepted this, but it's there and I need to get rid so I can get the car on the drive. BT want £300 for someone to just come and have a look, and say typical costs for moving it range from 2k -30k (WTF!). Needless to say, I am not paying for their error. So, anyone out there any ideas (other than chopping the damn thing down), or better still, are there any BT employees who know the best way to resolve this (happy to pay sneaky back-hander if it helps!)? Would be grateful for any help. Cheers
  3. I don't know how feasible this is, but i've always thought that were I to sell a house, I'd move into cheap rented accommodation whilst looking for a new house! It's probably a bit of a hassle, but at least then you can always market yourself as a first time buyer!!!
  4. Hello, I'm thinking of doing a small extension to the back of my house and was hoping to get a rough idea of what it might cost. It will be a two-storey extension with a total floor area of no more than 10 square metres (2 x 5m2) and will involve a dormer window being built on the upper storey. I've been working on the assumption that extensions cost about £1000 per square metre. So with the dormer window I am hoping that the whole thing (without finishing the internal space - i'll do that myself) will cost about 15K. Can any builders (or anyone really) tell me if i'm about right with this estimate?! Thanks Dave
