  1. There's a simple answer to solve that one... Put one hayf-crown in one pocket, and the other one in the other side. You'd balance out then, surely? lol
  2. Thank you all, for your condolences and kind words. I really appreciate them. It's been a struggle for the last while. As strong as (I think that) I am, I've honestly felt like I've been "buckling" more than a little under the strain.
  3. Hi everyone. Just to update you on how I'm doing. Things have been more than tough going, the last few months. As you'll have read from Mort a few months ago, my dad was battling cancer. Sadly he passed away at the end of November at the age of 78. His funeral is due to ve held on Friday. On top of this, I have also been diagnosed with Heart Failure, (on top of having the pacemaker which, to quote Shaniah Twain, really "Don't Impress Me Much". Just another round of appointments back and forth to see the cardiologists... *rollleyes* what fun! I know there's a saying that "God doesnt give us more than we can handle" bu,t quite honestly, I wonder, sometimes, if He must think that I am some kind of superwoman! Thanks everyone for keeping me in your thoughts. I will hopefully be back when things are on a more even keel. Love PT xxx
  4. Park hill had some four bedroomed properties, Hyde park had a few four-bedroomed on the very top row(s) ST Johns Gardens, (and Bernard Gardens, and Cricket inn Gardens. The interiors of all three flat developments of that style (Park Hill Hyde Park and Kelvin) were identical in layout. the only difference was the very top floor of Hyde park which had a single storey. There were one-bed, two bed three bed and four bed flats on the top storey(s) there were bedsit flats in the corners of all three flats (remember they all had the Zig-Zag landing layout) and you could work out which flats were which by looking at the living room windows. then on Hyde Park, (But not on Park hill or Kelvin) there were two internal staircases on the biggest block with bedsit-flats opening off the stairs, three per storey, except on the landing level where there were none. There were two styles of flat whcih you went downstairs to on the main landigs, one was a two bedroomed flat with a separate living room and dining-kitchen. the other was a one- bedroomed flat which had a living-kitchen and a seperate bedroom. The two-storey maisonettes had two or three bedrooms, the living room of the two-bedroomed maisonette was directly above the living room of the three bedroomed maisonette next door, and on both maisonettes, the kitchen and back bedroom (above the kitchen) were side by side (IE the two kitchen balconies were adjacent to each other, each pair separated by a living room).
  5. I went on Saturday, and there was practically nothing to see, about a dozen tents/stalls (Including the food vans) and a few funfair rides. i thought it was a poor showing considering it was supposed to be a celebration of sheffield. the ground was sodden so my chair got stuck in the mud. All in all fairly disapointing. I went to firth park festival on the sunday, and that had much more to see. and in a much smaller area.
  6. the Vic Hallam and the Finnegan houses that have recently been demolished were classed as Prefabricated in design. the Finnegans on Arbourthorne (Im not sure about the Vic Hallam) were built on a concrete raft, as the land was supposedly too wet to build on, so I am very suprised to see the new build that have just gone up as being standard construction. I asked for adaprations to my previous Finnegan property and the council refused on the grounds that it was a prefab. I argued the toss with them, and said "But you did exactly the same adaptations I need for Mrs bs next door but one on the terrace" "Ah but YOURS is a prefab so we can't do the adaptions!" But my hous is identical to Mrs B's... I am on the same terrace of houses as she is, my house is identical!" But we cant do the adaptations for yours... It's a prefab!" *rinse and repeat...* So I ended up being moved to where I am now, which is adapted for my needs.
  7. Ive just had a letter from social services telling me my care payment is going up by another ÂŁ22-odd a week. Which means I will be paying over ÂŁ140 a week for my 11.5 hours care. I'm disgusted.
  8. Before humans die, they write their last will and testament, giving their home and all they have to those they leave behind. If, with my paws, I could do the same, this is what I’d ask…To a poor and lonely stray, I’d give my happy home; my bowl and cozy bed, soft pillow and all my toys; the lap, which I loved so much; the hand that stroked my fur; and the sweet voice that spoke my name.I’d will to the sad, scared, shelter dog the place I had in my human’s loving heart, of which there seemed no bounds. So, when I die, please do not say, “I will never have a pet again, for the loss and the pain is more than I can stand.”Instead, go find an unloved dog, one whose life has held no joy or hope, and give my place to him. This is the only thing I can give…The love I left behind. – Author Unknown
  9. Aye, 'tis. Thar't reight. Sum as laiks mundies, sum laiks tuesdies sum even laiks wensdies!
  10. sadly, yes it is now a Tesco. The congregation dwindled so badly, up to the closure in approx 2006 (its centenary year for the building of the extension, making it all the more poignant) that by the end, there was often less members of the congregation in attendance than the staff (vicar and organist). The congregation was merged with Highfield Trinity (formerly Brunswick Trinity) down the road, opposite St Barnabas' Church.
  11. fantastic. all the best, hope it ges smoothly, Peaches!
  12. I went to ID last may when they were new. I had had enough of them by the time I had been with them two weeks. signal - I'm lucky if I can get one bar.. They wont turn the voicemail off, and none of the codes they gave me work. The customer service , both their knowledge and their attitude is abysmal. I'm locked into a 2-year contract, till May next year, and I am only marking time until the contract is up. I would not recommend anyone to touch Id with a bargepole.
  13. That's just vile, Daven! I remember the black sacks of rubbish that were collected on, I think, Thursday mornings. tenants weren't meant to put them out till the actual morning of 'bin day', but they often put them out last thing at night, the night before. The drunkards would make their way along the landings, at god-all knows what times of the night, and throw the bags over. it was annoying. I remember the landlady of the Target pub, she used to walk her three little dogs (Yorkies I STR) last thing, after the pub closed. She and the dogs would have to dodge the bags as they landed. Stupid, stupid actions.
  14. betterman and Fadi both need to learn about what the definition of jihad is. (and the major, major differences between the Greater Jihad and the Lesser Jihad.) ---------- Post added 18-01-2016 at 15:49 ---------- If you can, look up the words "Exegesis" and "Hermeneutics" in the dictionary. ---------- Post added 18-01-2016 at 15:52 ---------- I prefer to sell on Ebay, myself. ---------- Post added 18-01-2016 at 15:54 ---------- Was that because a wind farm would use up all the renewable energy, just like erm... solar power, erm.... would? ---------- Post added 18-01-2016 at 15:56 ---------- the best Desmond Dekker record ever!
  15. I went away with my best friend to Torquay about 20, months ago. The hotel had been instructed that as we are both wheelchair users we needed to be in a ground floor accessible room. We discovered that another person, from another coach party had been assigned to the accessible room. We were given a awful room, on the top floor. The room was filthy and damp, (the flat roof above was leaking like a sieve) and we could not get into the lift with a wheelchair, so had to use rollator-walking frame 'deelies', which also barely fitted in the lift. the lift door was manually opened and was too heavy. The room door itself was not wide enough to get the walking frames through and there was a floorboard missing which caused me to fall. We nicknamed the place Fawlty Towers. We were on the look out for Basil and Sybil. We complained and we were moved to a slightly more accessible and better accommodated place, across the road.
