  1. I absolutely agree RichC, People who earn more than £34,600 are effectively being penalised for having a decent job, that they probably trained very hard and for a long time to get. I see what you mean about being offered priorities regarding services such as the NHS, but I don't suppose it could work that way. I also agree with you that people who are unwilling to work - as opposed to those who are unable to work, or have low paid jobs - receive the same basic services as the rest of us. It sounds as if I'm being militant here, but it just seems so unfair.
  2. Sorry, forgot to say, it'll be next thursday, though you've probably guessed that!!
  3. Thanks t/lis, we might do that! there'll be a group of us from the Childrens Hospital. I'll ask around tomorrow and let you know.
  4. Does anyone know of a place in town that doeas karaoke on a Thursday night? I can't find anywhere, and it really has to be karaoke!! (a friend's birthday? Cheers.
  5. I've had 2 tickets this year, both of which I've paid, but it angers me that the only available parking spaces around the sheffield hospitals is soon to be residents only. I don't think of mysef as the victim at all, I just think the parking in Sheffield is atrocious. I see Sheffield City Council employees get a nice free parking space though......
  6. In reply to (Mr?) Greybeard. I assume that you don't live over 15 miles away drom your place of work, too far away from a train station for that to be an option, with a ridiculously useless bus system in place? I agree that the volume of traffic is increasing rapidly, and some of it is unneccesary, but some of us simply have no choice but to drive to work. If that labels Me a contributor to the state of the City's traffic, then fine, some of us have to live out of Sheffield City Centre becuse we cannot afford to live closer.
  7. Some of my friends pay £60 per month to park at Aunt Sally's!!
  8. I've thought about it, but i like my job. I've been there 4 years now, and the parking thing's really doing my head in! if I arrive at 7.15 for an 8am start, there's still nowhere to park. I'm not sure if it's a council problem or something that should be the hospital's responsibility. Maybe I'll just have to live with it and carry on paying £6 per day to park at the Hallamshire.......
  9. Does anyone have the same problem as me? I live in Chesterfield and work at Sheffield Childrens' Hospital, and I am finding it more difficult every day to find a parking space. I've had 3 parking tickets recently, and I'm fed up with it. The council are now changing the few parking spaces around into limited waiting times, and I don't know what we can do about it. Any ideas?
  10. The Bath Hotel's a nice "proper" pub, just off West Street
  11. Maria's in Crookes (next to the Punchbowl) is lovely, it's Italian. Costs around £10 or a bit more for a main course. It's been a while since I've been though.
  12. Cheers everyone. I think the place in attercliffe is called "Keep On Running". I'll try there. Thanks again xxx
  13. I want to start training for a 10k run and know absolutely nothing about running. I need to buy some running shoes, and just wondered if anyone out there can give me some advice. I am not a "sporty" person at all, I'm an absolute novice, and can't remember the last time i even excercised!! Thanks xxx:)
  14. Don't know if you know, but there's a group of people called "Sheffield Paranormal Investigations" who meet a the Burgoyne Arms in Hillsborough once a month, who do loads of "ghost hunts" up and down the country. I think they meet on the same Wednesday every month, they're always wanting new members.
