Hope Station - Abney Clough - Hathersage Saturday 28th January 2012 Description Our linear walk starts at Hope Station and climbs to Abney Moor, where we admire the views over the Hope Valley to Win Hill, Lose Hill, Mam Tor and Kinder Scout. From the top of Abney Moor, we drop over the back to the hill village of Abney and on into the beautiful wooded valley of Abney Clough. After passing through a rich variety of woodland, we leave the wood to walk briefly along the valley top, before dropping to Leadmill then making our way to Hathersage Station to return on the 14.42 train back to Sheffield This is a 6.7 mile walk 3.5hrs Details Start time: 10.50 Meeting point: Hope Station Terrain:One climb at the beginning, the walk is over good paths, tracks and minor roads. Most of the route is well-drained, with mud only being present after rain. However, there are places where the mud will remain year round and so I would strongly recommend walking-boots. Parking: Dore Station or Sheffield City Centre to catch the train Public transport: Train from Sheffield or Dore 10.14 Sheffield platform 2c 10.21 Dore If travelling by train please purchase return tickets on outward journey as it works out much cheaper Sheffield return £6.10 Dore return £5.40 By Bus: there are good bus services to Hope Station from Sheffield, Castleton, Baslow and Chesterfield. The bus stop is on the A6187 at the end of the station road. Additional information Anyone who is able to offer lifts, could they put this in their post. Anyone joining the walk should be of a level of fitness relative to the walk being undertaken, be appropriately dressed, have suitable footwear, and have with them enough food and drink for the duration of the walk..
