  1. There is only one BJJ Black belt in Sheffield - John Goldson who teaches and owns The Forge at Crystal Peaks There are absolutely no 6th Dan BJJ practitioners in Sheffield. The highest ranked brits ever are only second dan. Easy thing to remember is after you get your black in BJJ you are eligible for a new degree every 3 years for the first 3 and then every 5 after that which means that you have to have your black belt 24 years to be a 6th dan.
  2. Had a few enquries on this already. Really looking forward to the first class tomorrow. Paul
  3. ttt for some beginners BJJ in Chesterfield starting Tuesday at Back to Basics gym on Chester Street.
  4. Hey, Just thought I'd let people know that I will be running a 6 week BJJ beginners course at Back to Basics gym in Chesterfield from next Tuesday (12th June) Classes will be every Tuesday and Friday, they will start at 7:30 and finish at 9 and will cost £50 for the 6 weeks. For any further info please email me on paulinho.gbm@gmail.com or follow me on twitter @paulinhogbm Thanks Paul "Paulinho" Cole
  5. If they come from a traditional Muay Thai club they will probably have their own Ram Muay (the dance). Im not 100% sure its compulsary everywhere but know it is at Wicker Camp (its in the beginners class syllabus).
  6. The music is so the fighters know how long there is left in the round and also helps them fight at a tempo and find their rhythm easier. The wai kru or as you called it "the dance that take ages before fights" is a very important part of the fight itself. Thailand is a Buddhist country and that is the time where the fighters say prayers thanking their coaches, family, friends for all their help and support leading up to the fight. Its also a chance for the fighters to get to know the ring. Im taking the fact that you've said "another" Thai show implies you've been to others so surely you had an idea of these traditions before??
  7. Pep doesn't train in Hillsborough anymore. His club is in Darnall. He is an awesome coach too. You won't get anyone better on the ground in Sheffield than John though. Go to both clubs. It'll make you a better fighter.
  8. He'd have to get real first. Glad EKBJJ is still going strong. Does Mark still take classes? Hes a cool guy.
  9. Masaru MMA Centre and GB Midlands are proud to have Mr. Lee Chesters confirmed as our Muay Thai coach. Lee is a former WMC World Muay Thai Champion and all round Muay Thai legend. Classes start Wednesday 23rd March. Then classes will be every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Classes 8pm - 9pm. 5 pound per class. MMA Coach to be confirmed shortly!!
  10. If Noel packs it in i will go to his work, with a gi, and kick his ass!!
  11. Great to see a fellow midget representing in my absence!
