When I started working with the European Space Research Organisation in the late 60's there were 2 official working languages, French and English. Countdowns for launches were in French if the project scientist was French, any other any nationality it would be in English except one Welsh scientist insisted doing a practice in Welsh. The people who could master any language problem were the Dutch, maybe that's why the technical centre was in Holland.

Petition For SCC to End Contract With Amey
Blackbeard replied to monkeygirl's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
Yesterday I reported a blocked sewer at at 9 am with Yorkshire Water. 30 mins later a man from Amey turned up and solved the problem of a blockage of very smelly poo, he also checked the drains by putting a camera down the drain. I was very impressed by quality of the service. -

I am old enough to remember the "good old days" when we had our sovereignty and I had to fill in ATA customs carnets just to get my research equipment in and out of Europe how easy it was when we joined. As for the hard border, Dover are already working on it and expecting Operation Stack every day, the old Manston Airport is contracted to park the trucks. https://www.theguardian.com/uk-news/2017/feb/20/post-brexit-customs-gridlock-could-choke-uk-trade-experts-warn
