  1. The bus driver I spoke to was asking the same. Though the driver I spoke to today said they had now been told not to discuss the incident with passengers, which is understandable. Loose lips sink ships.
  2. I've been using the Connect busses all week, both service 1 & 2, though they are operating a reduced service with Connect 2 being every 20mins instead of every 7-8mins.. Made me late back to work after my lunch break today. I think the busses are great, but there's hardly any leg room between the seats. If you need to hop from one bus to the other then they converge at the bus station, Charter Row, Cumberland Street and Eyre Street as per this map.
  3. I saw the two Connect busses parked up in the station the following morning, both taped off and both being examined by police CSI forensic officers. I was told by a bus driver that the thieves boarded both busses, but only one was stolen. Apparently on previous nights the bus station security had seen youths boarding the busses and messing around in them.
  4. Were they also picking up passengers? Hope they weren't charging them for the rides as this is a free service.
  5. Driver told me they tried to steal two busses but only managed one. The thieves drove it along the Number 30 bus route to Killamarsh, had a crash and brought it back to the bus station. The gaffers are now meeting to try and decide where else they can be stored overnight.
  6. One of the Connect busses was stolen and got smashed up. Saw it yesterday being examined by police forensics.
  7. Those accidents are the fault of the motorist turning right in front of oncoming moving traffic, because they wrongly assume that traffic are on a red light and will be stopping, when in fact they have a green light. So the right turners are at fault for just pulling out and making the turn without checking if then coming traffic is stopping, or has stopped.
  8. Did it involve a car turning right from Greenhill Main Road onto Greenmail Ave?
  9. You're never going to see a panda car chasing a motorbike, if the bike crashes the police get the blame and the police driver goes to court, risks losing their licence, dangerous driving death by danger out driving etc. Their policy will be to never chase them. Not much they can do really, even if they follow it the bike will soon speed off out of their sight. There isn't really a safe way of stopping a motorbike, so the police car was right to not go after it.
  10. Close enough to my house so I could walk to it, but I don't want to be able to see it from my house, obviously. So close to my back yard, but Not In My Back Yard!!
  11. Never mind giving Rotherham an additional tram stop, lets get the tram to Meadowhead instead! Vote WarPig for Mayor and it will happen.
  12. There are lots of accidents just after/before the roundabout on Greenhill Main Road where it junctions with Greenhill Ave. Traffic coming off the roundabout onto Greenhill Main Road have two lanes, the left one for going straight on and the right lane for turning right onto Gereenhill Ave. At this junction is also a pedestrian crossing. The problem occurs when a car wanting to turn right sees that the traffic lights for the cars to their left who are going straight on, have turned to red. They wrongly assume that the oncoming lane (with traffic coming from Greenhill to the roundabout) is also on a red light and oncoming cars will stop so they can turn right. However they are actually on a green light so wont be stopping. The reason for this is there are actually two separate crossings here, with a paved area in the middle of the road where the pedestrian has to then press the button to continue crossing. Each set of traffic light operates independently, with the pedestrian crossing one lane tan stepping onto the central pavement, and then having to press the button to cross the next lane. So a car turning right sees their carriageway has a red light and thinks it's safe to move forward and make the turn, not realising that oncoming traffic is on a green light. So they set off and are hit by oncoming traffic. I saw it happen the other day with a skip waggon hitting a car turning right across him. I stopped and informed the skip driver of the problem, and so helping him with his insurance claim.
  13. Though the left hand lane is for turning left only, so doesn't go onto the roundabout. But occasionally someone in that lane wants to go straight on instead of turning left, and don't always realise they are in the wrong lane.
  14. The downside to a small independent opticians is they tend to be small stores with less choice of frames. Though the Martin Kemp on Herries road looks a decent size store.
  15. Anyone able to recommend a good opticians in Sheffield, one with staff that know how to measure for glasses, offer correct fit and give good advice please? I want to get some varifocals which wont be cheap so I want to buy from somewhere with staff that know there subject.
