  1. Some will have their fantasies. For others, it may be reality.
  2. I never mentioned money Mr H? Do you have some complex about money? A bit of a chip on the shoulder perhaps when dealing with those more affluent than yourself? You really shouldn't you know. Have I, in our discussion, called you anything? Offered you any insults that might justify ripostes or accusations of my being arrogant, pompous, selfish or a loser? As far as I can tell, your attack is entirely unprovoked, and not well mannered.
  3. I'm not a native making a basic subsistance living, and therefore with little to leave behind. They were.
  4. Lets be realistic, they are just a bunch of islanders who were inconvenienced. The base was needed, there was a cold war and we were more concerned with potential apocalypse than a few island fishermen, so why do the lickspittles of this world have to have a go at the government for what was at the time a necessary situation?
  5. We would still trade with Europe, but not as much - we'd have more free choice over our imports. The US isn't in the EU, but they buy plenty of BMW and Mercedes cars, just as we buy plenty of American computers now. cheese? Buy British. As for wine, don't we buy more New World wine than European already?
  6. A point on which we will, I suspect, never agree. I see no responsibility why the rest of the world's failure to modernise or evolve should be laid at our feet. If they can't cope, they shouldn't prosper - a bit of natural selection. We can't all do well - all that happens when we try the impossibility of socialism is that the hard-working and talented are penalised, and the lazy and dim are rewarded. Not my idea of Utopia I'm afraid.

My observation as well Upholder. The services aim to attract, and select, people with a solid character and some resilience to stress.
  8. Turn off the radiators in the rooms you're not using and the CH will be cheaper - most of the heat from the gas fire goes up the cuimney.
  9. Indeed. Pull out of europe, save a fortune, and trade more with our old partners - Australia, Canada and the US.
  10. I'm sure that people who have worked and paid taxes and NI should, under such a proposed solution, be entitled to more comfortable assistance than those who have never worked or who come to the UK to leech.
