  1. I agree. As long as you don't expect other people/benefits to support you. If you earn enough to cover your costs and outgoings then why work more than you need to? Just don't complain when you can't afford to buy the gorgeous shoes or the new handbag.
  2. Totally agree. These small community events are put together by volunteers who often work full time jobs and have families, both of which can end up being neglected while these events are being organised. They put so much time and effort into putting these events together for the communities and to have the deputy lord mayor sue them for something that was clearly an unfortunate accident is just awful. It is a thankless task and stories like this would certainly make me think again about doing something to try and bring communities together or something nice for the neighbourhood ever again. Sorry for going off topic. Go back to your bickering.
  3. I get so many people coming into Jam Jar Beads asking the same questions. Lots of people want to sell jewellery and make their living that way. It is hard work and there are hundreds of other people trying to do exactly the same thing. Definitely agree with everyone on here - you need to put the time and effort into it and it is not, contrary to what many people think, less work than "a proper job". And take the time to get to know your market and perfect product. Remember that other companies have teams to do their manufacturing, another to do the marketing, another for selling. In many handmade businesses, you are everything so there is so much more to deal with than just crafting.
  4. Hello, We are Jam Jar Beads in town. Not really a stallholder (though we are available to do interactive kids jewellery making stalls) but I just wanted to say that if anyone has a craft fair or similar event they want to advertise, feel free to pop in and drop off flyers and posters. We have lots of crafty customers who are looking to both buy and sell. Hope to see you soon!
  5. I had a fab day here last weekend. Thanks so much for having me - can't wait for the next one. The glogg and Scandi food was amazing!

  13. Does anyone know a good dressmaker vaguely locally please? I'm actually needing someone to make a Chinese wedding dress for me. Not overly sure if this is very different to making a regular dress? Ta for your help!
  14. You have to at least be in the doorway of a licenced building, you can't be fully outside. But bandstand at Weston Park is a nice compromise. My friend got married there and it was lovely. I'm having an outdoor wedding and am having to have the official ceremony at the Town Hall then have a repeat fake ceremony (I'm told this is called a blessing) on the day for all the guests. We really wanted to have a ceremony outside and this was the only way we could think to do it.
  15. I think either Pronuptia or Choola on Ecclesall Road also do dresses for flowergirls/bridesmaids. I've seen them in the window before. Do you have the older ones already? Is Monsoon worth a look? They have some really nice girls dresses.
