Being a nipper in the 70s and being a big fan of Horatio Nelson at the time, I was fascinated by The Buccaneer. I never got the chance to go in, but I always tried to look through the pavement level windows eager to get a glimpse of the the pirates drinking inside.

Does anybody know if A1 Turf Supplies are still in business? Tried to phone them using the number on their website, but a recorded message told me that the number had change, but there was no answer on the 'new' number. Anybody got any clues.

'Out Of The Blue' - Tv Series Filmed In Sheffield
Steptoad replied to FIRETHORN1's topic in Sheffield News & Discussions
An episode of it was filmed at Edward St. flats when I lived there. I remember it going on for a quite a while, partly because one of the hydraulic lifts spilled its hydraulic fluid onto the street. The fire brigade had to come and clean it up. -
I remember many years ago (the 1970s) a family friend was involved in a proposal to build and underground train line from Sheffield Midland to the bottom of The Moor. I believe it got as far as models of the proposed work going on display in the town hall. However as I said, this was the [early] 70s and I was a pre-teen so my memory might be exaggerating things.

He is John, he had a pulminary embolism and heart attack a few years back and ever since mum's had them both on a vegetarian diet, with regular gym sessions (at least they did until this covid malarky started)

No, he was Birdseye.

My dad was a driver for NCL (National Carriers Ltd) at the time, his beloved pushbike went up in flames.

Maybe it was just used by my group of friend. We used it 20-25 years ago, I think it was introduced to us by a member of our group who came from Middlesborough. I always thought it was from that part of the country.

Isn't "dropping the chimp" as in "has she dropped the chimp yet?" a euphemism for giving birth?

What sort of folk music are you playing? Are you leaning more towards Foster & Alan or The Pogues.
