  1. The linked article doesn't mention drinking, I did a search of the page to confirm.
  2. Absolutely shocking. In a posh part of Sydney too. Just goes to show that these crimes aren't necessarily committed in poorer areas ...
  3. No offence, but I'm intrigued why someone your age and from Sheffield would refer to your Mum, or Mam as Mom!
  4. Obviously an extremely lenient sentence. (Why) With good behaviour he could be out in six years, as I understand it. And there is an extremely high possibility that he'll re-offend. Not good to say the very least.
  5. I remember Uncle Sam's, it really was a great place. I don't remember the cold glass of water that they gave you before ordering though! There was a really good burger place next door to the Broomhall Tavern (Can't remember the name, can you?) The food was so good but what I remember the most was the circular tray of relishes that they brought to the table. I remember a waiter coming to take it away and my response was "just leave it" Not like me at all! :D:
  6. I completely agree about smells being evocative. I remember when they used to tarmac the road, the smell would take me right back to my childhood in Summertime for some reason! Not quite as up market as Boss Number 1! 😊 😁
  7. Yes, you're right, the recipient of the letter will probably get a notice to collect the letter from the sorting office and pay the charge on collection.
  8. What music, films, food, experiences, places you have lived (or whatever!) really take you back in time to the best times of your life? We all go through ebbs and flows in life but, what stands out for you? Maybe I'll post some of mine after I hear yours.
  9. Definitely send them to Paula Vennells at the very least. Trouble is she could afford the charge/fine
  10. Maybe a flag that somehow incorporates Hendos without the actual full branding?
  11. Royal Mail actually intend to charge people £5 for receiving a letter with a fake stamp! Where's the logic in that?! And how will they enforce it, send you the bill? Full BBC article here
  12. That's more than a bit dramatic to say the least! Interesting that you can still remember the incident vividly after 40 years.
  13. Good for you for you for making that decision to help, well done!
