  1. A chain saw would be overkill really. A good pair of loppers and a pruning saw is the way to go.
  2. Not yet. I checked and the allotment office is closed at the moment like most things.
  3. I'm sure glyphosate would kill it, just brush some on the leaves and wait.
  4. Hi, I recognise your business from the local area below my allotment at park rifles. I run a local lawn care business so if you have any questions shoot me a PM and I'll try to answer your queries. But as said above, if you want to remover the top layer of turf, a turf cutter is the way to go. Alternatively, a selective weed killer will kill the weeds leaving just grass, and an overseed should get things back to normal.
  5. I would be interested in a few bamboo plants if you or anyone else is splitting them in the spring.
  6. Maybe someone left some money to fund activities for males aged over 50? Everyone doesn't have to be eligible to do everything, you could complain that boys aren't allowed in under 10's girls football, or vice versa, or would that just be virtue signalling?
  7. You would have to get a few quotes, there are too many variables, and most professional gardeners don't do hourly rates, you would get a quote for the job + waste.
  8. Do you happen to know what variety they are?
  9. I have a low end Mountfield petrol rotary mower that withstood 2 years of commercial use, and does a really good job. I still like it, and use it for my own lawn, although it's retired from hard graft now. I can recommend them (B&Q sell them) for most kinds of lawn conditions for a home owner. Mine is a HP454, but there is a SP454 (self propelled). Hope that helps
  10. It's not something I offer at the moment, but I now green thumb do. They call it slowmow I think.
  11. I can't help but feel worried when people are recommending professional level Gyphosate products to people with no training to use such products. There's a world of difference between what you buy in wilkos and gallup360/rosate36 etc.
  12. I saw a unmarked undercover police van pull a trades van the other day. Blue flashing lights in the front grill, and no markings. I guess they think people wouldn't expect the man in the white van to be traffic police.
  13. I know MKM sell topsoil, and I think they still offer local delivery for free. Then there's A1turf down in attercliffe, which I would assume would be decent quality. Depends what you want it for really. Builders merchants stuff tends to be quite sandy.
  14. If the weed membrane (liner) is full of grass then you should just replace it. The weeds and grass will probably just pull away with the membrane. You will have to either rake the pebbles off and then put them back on new membrane, add new pebbles, or do something else with the area.
