  1. We used to have their carers for my mum a few years ago. Carers were generally good, reliable and didn't rush to try and complete the call in speed time, as some companies do. The package we needed was a large one, consisting of around 42 hours per week. Management changed and they said the package wasn't cost effective to them any more and ended the care, due to a lot of local carers to my mum having left the company and carers having to travel from the other side of the city.
  2. Can anybody recommend a restaurant either in town centre or North side of Sheffield for a family 40th birthday meal, for about 25 people? About 5 of these will be children and I'm wanting to book it for a Saturday night.
  3. Based on personal experience, a warning to anyone thinking of using a care company; my advice would be to avoid: “New Horizons Trust Homecare Services”. Here is a link to the Local Government Ombudsman’s investigation report into the quality of service provided by this Company: http://www.lgo.org.uk/decisions/adult-care-services/domiciliary-care/14-012-473 Despite the Ombudsman’s damning investigation report and the Company not meeting Care Quality Commission standards, Sheffield Council’s Adult Social Care Services department continue to recommend and endorse this Company as a Registered Provider.
  4. I was asking generally. We are looking into buying a house with them and wondered if anyone had any experience with them.
  5. I'm just wondering whether anyone has any experience of buying a new build home from Harron homes?
  6. I'm just wondering if anybody has ever part-excahnged their house for a new build. We are looking to do this and am wondering if there are any specifications that companies will require my house to have.
  7. So would a back boiler not be condemned? It works fine but is quite old. Someone who works for British Gas told me it would be condemned, as you can't get back boilers any more?
  8. I currently have a back boiler and need to have it checked as I need a Corgi or Gas Safe certificate. Can anyone tell me if I will get the certificate with it being a back boiler or will I need a new boiler installing? Thanks
  9. Not in the countryside but we looked at Wadsley Social Club - it has lovely grounds for photos and was very reasonably priced - not sure if you could do your own buffet though. http://wadsleyhouseclub.co.uk/Home.php
  10. We are using Sarah's at Hillsborough. I don't get married until August, so can't say what the flowers are actually like but we went to a couple of florists and found Sarah's to be quite competitively priced and very helpful. They had lots of books of photos for us to look at to get an idea of what we wanted, then tailored a package to suit us. The lady who served us was really nice and didn't make us feel like she was pushing us to buy them, unlike others we went to.
  11. The biggest issue I have when pushing my mum round Meadowhall is the shops having rails too close together to get round - we usually just barge past them as why should having a disability stop you going in a shop?! I also feel there could be a couple more lifts - there are many more stairs and escalators than lifts.
  12. I'm looking for a mobile make-up artist to do mine and my bridesmaids make-up for my wedding on August 30th. I've found a few websites, that charge about ÂŁ90 for the bride, is this what I should be expecting to pay? Any recommendations?
  13. My Mum has just had a terrible experience with Intercare Services - don't use them.
  14. Don't touch intercare with a barge pole! Carers are generally good. Management are extremely incompetent.
  15. It wasn't a wedding reception but myself and my partner went for a meal there about a year ago. The food was OK, a little bit pretentious but overall not too bad but we could not get over the fact that the staff let a beggar in and come over to our table whilst eating waving a sign in our face saying 'hungry and homeless' and aggressively saying something in a foreign language! The staff stood back, watching him go round each table, where diners ignored him. We did complain about this being allowed to happen but the staff were not bothered at all. This really put me off the place and they won't be getting our custom again.
