Ban on rubbish burning in most of rural France due to fire risk. Don't fancy the 600ft climb uphill from the nearest shop on a bike carrying several days worth of shopping.
-
Try living in the French countryside with no public transport and the nearest decent shops 10km away. No bin collections from your property - rubbish taken to the nearest set of communal bins often a km or two away.

Will raise a glass to that 🍻

Pray tell the differences between terraces from Manchester and Sheffield from say 1900, or high street shops from the 50's and 60's, post war suburbs etc. Main difference I'ne noticed over the years was maybe brick colour - although hardly when most cities were uniformly black due to smoke up to at least the early 70's.

Nor like Israel in using the army to aid land grabs to seize territory on the West Bank.

Only about T&C for staff, school days / holidays, and not following the national curriculum as far as I can tell from the HMG website. https://www.gov.uk/types-of-school/free-schools#:~:text=Free schools are funded by,processes like a grammar school. "Free schools are funded by the government but are not run by the local authority. They have more control over how they do things. They’re ‘all-ability’ schools, so can not use academic selection processes like a grammar school. Free schools can: set their own pay and conditions for staff change the length of school terms and the school day They do not have to follow the national curriculum."

A drink is too wet without a fag , a fag is too dry without a drink, according to our lass. I agree wholeheartedly.

How many people can live in a country where they choose to live? Reckon I'm one of a tiny minority as I moved to France due to a combination of an inheritance, 40 odd years of savings to a personal pension, and owning a house in Sheffield I can rent out.
